FAREWELL SPEECH BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

My fellow Nigerian brothers, sisters and friends of Nigeria.
I address you today, in my last assignment as a democratically elected President of our great and well-endowed nation, with a deep sense of gratitude to God, a great deal of appreciation to the Nigerian people and a modest sense of fulfilment.
Today we mark and celebrate another peaceful transition of power from one elected government to another in our steady march to improve and sustain Nigeria’s democracy.

This year we witnessed the most keenly contested Presidential Elections since the first Republic and this demonstrates that our democracy is getting better and more entrenched with each election.

We must as a nation improve and sustain gains we make in the electoral process, on an incremental basis for Nigeria to take its rightful place among Nations.

Our democracy provides for, allows and encourages seeking redress for perceived injustices, enabling some candidates and political parties that did not agree with the results to go to court.

Irrespective of the outcome of the various cases, I urge all parties involved to accept the decision of our courts and join hands to build a better Nigeria.

I salute the doggedness and resilience of all the Presidential Candidates and their political parties for believing in our judicial system by taking their grievances with the election results to court.
In the course of the campaigns, we had argued and disagreed on how to make Nigeria better but we never disagreed or had any doubts that Nigeria has to be better.

As your President, I call on all of us to bring to bear the strength of our individualism, the power of our unity, the convictions of our beliefs to make Nigeria work better and together with one spirit and one purpose.
To my brother, friend and fellow worker in the political terrain for the past ten years – Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu -, I congratulate you on the realisation of your dream, which was propelled by a burning passion to put Nigeria amongst the leading nations of the world.

You have indeed worked for this day and God has crowned your efforts. I have no doubt that your passion for excellence, reliance on competence, fairness in relationships, commitment to equity, loyalty to the country and desire for Nigeria to be globally relevant would come through for you, under God’s guidance, as you lead our country to levels higher that I am leaving.

You are the best candidate among all the contestants and Nigerians have chosen well.
The last eight years have been an exciting experience in my desire and commitment to see a Nigeria in which public goods and services are available, and accessible within a united, peaceful and secure nation.

Fellow Nigerians, on the strength of your overwhelming support for me and my political party, I started this journey with a great deal of promise and expectation from you. I never intended to be just politically correct but to do the correct things that will make meaningful impact on the lives of the common Nigerian.

This high expectation was not misplaced because, like the ordinary Nigerian, I had grown tired of watching the country progressively moving away from the path of correctness.
To ensure that our democracy remains resilient and our elected representatives remain accountable to the people, I am leaving behind an electoral process which guarantees that votes count, results are credible, elections are fair and transparent and the influence of money in politics reduced to the barest minimum. And Nigerians can elect leaders of their choice.

We are already seeing the outcome of this process as it provided an even playing field where persons without any political God-Father or access to money defeated other well-resourced candidates.
The Nigerian economy has become more resilient due to the various strategies put in place to ensure that our economy remained afloat during cases of global economic downturns.
You would all recall the supply chain disruptions and economic downturn that the world witnessed between 2020 and 2022 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The deftness of our response to the pandemic still remains a global best practice.
Furthermore, we increased the ability of the poor and rural Nigerians to earn a living, provided more food for millions in our villages and gave our women opportunities to earn a living.

Young men and women in urban centres were also supported to put their skills into productive use. Our administration also provided an enabling environment for the private sector to engage in businesses for which their return on investments is guaranteed.

The private sector proved a strong partner in our drive to build a resilient and sustainable economy as evidenced by the growing number of turn-key projects in various sectors of the economy.
In the course of revamping the economy, we made some difficult choices, most of which yielded the desired results. Some of the measures led to temporary pain and suffering for which I sincerely apologised to my fellow countrymen, but the measures were taken for the over-all good of the country.

Mindful of the need to ensure adequate infrastructure to drive economic growth, we completed age-long projects and processes notably amongst which are the Petroleum Industry Act, completion of some power projects, completion of the second Niger bridge and various important roads linking cities and states.

Our battle to ensure that all Nigerians live in a safe and secure environment has achieved considerable results. As I complete my term in office, we have been able to reduce the incidences of banditry, terrorism, armed robbery and other criminal activities considerably.
To sustain the gains made so far, I call on all Nigerians to be more vigilant and support the security agencies by ensuring that our values defined by being your brothers’ keeper govern our actions.

Up-till now, I still grieve for our children still in captivity, mourn with parents, friends and relatives of all those that lost loved ones in the days of the senseless brigandage and carnage.

For all those under unlawful captivity our Security Agencies are working round the clock to secure their release unharmed.
Fellow Nigerians, you know how dear the desire in my heart is, to rid the country of corrupt practices that had consistently diminished our efforts to be a great country.

I did pursue this commitment relentlessly, in spite of the expected push back. I am happy that considerable progress had been made in repatriating huge sums of money back to the country and also taken over properties illegally acquired from our common wealth.

To improve service delivery, we began the implementation of a number of reforms aimed at producing an Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen-oriented (EPIC) Federal Civil Service and the results are beginning to show. On the international scene, Nigeria’s influence continues to grow as exemplified by notable Nigerians occupying headship and leadership positions in renowned global bodies.

Our democracy is built on and continues to thrive on the principles of separation of powers. The leadership and members of the National Assembly deserve my appreciation for their patriotism which did not detract from their roles as a check to the executive arm.

I also want to use this opportunity to express my appreciation to a good number of Nigerians who provided their support and encouragement to help me navigate the exciting journey in moving Nigeria forward.

I cannot and will not forget the millions who prayed for me during my illness in my first term of office. I am constantly praying for you and for Nigeria to thrive in peace.

As I retire home to Daura, Katsina State, I feel fulfilled that we have started the Nigeria Re-Birth by taking the initial critical steps and I am convinced the in-coming administration will quicken the pace of this walk to see a Nigeria that fulfils its destiny to be a great nation.

I am confident that I am leaving office with Nigeria better in 2023 than in 2015.I thank you all. And may God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Shettima Allays Fear, Says There Is No Islamisation Agenda In Nigeria.

The Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima on Saturday has addressed concerns that he and his principal, Bola Tinubu, have an agenda to islamise Nigeria

Since Tinubu announced Shettima as his running mate last year, there have been divergent views by different groups and individuals with some alleging that the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could be a ploy to Islamise Nigeria.

But speaking at a lecture in Abuja forming part of the events around Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29, the incoming Vice President allayed such fears, saying there was no agenda to Islamise Africa’s most populous nation.
He described his principal as a Muslim who is married to a Christian and pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

“I was a child of necessity, there is no Islamisation agenda. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a Muslim who is married to a Christian, not only a Christian but a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
“Someone who has not Islamised his family, people are alluding that he has the intention to Islamise the nation,” he added.
The Vice President-elect revealed that he deliberately picked an Igbo man of the Catholic faith to be his Chief Security Officer.

Also selected as his security aide is a Northerner to be his Aide De Camp (ADC), saying his decision was based on togetherness and inclusivity.
“Politics is about perception. As we begin the formation of a new administration, I deliberately picked an Igbo man, a Catholic, to be my Chief Security Officer,” he stated.

“For the purpose of inclusivity and togetherness, again I deliberately picked a Northern Christian to be my ADC. So the so-called founder of Boko Haram is going to be protected by…”
‘Remove Fuel Subsidy’

Also speaking at the lecture, the President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina has decried the fuel subsidy regime by the Federal Government, saying it only benefits the rich.
Lamenting that the continued payment to subsidise petroleum products was killing the Nigerian economy, Adesina said fuel subsidy gulped $10 billion in 2022 alone.
He explained that Nigeria keeps borrowing for what shouldn’t be borrowed for, advising that such money should be channelled to national development.

“The place to start therefore is to remove the inefficient fuel subsidy. Nigeria’s fuel subsidies benefit the rich, not the poor, fuelling theirs and the government’s endless fleet of cars at the expense of the poor,” he stated.
“Estimates show that the poorest 40 per cent of the population consume just three per cent of petrol.
“Fuel subsidies are killing the Nigerian economy, costing the economy of Nigeria $10 billion in 2022. That means that Nigeria is borrowing what it doesn’t have to borrow.”

You’re Not My President – Pastor Tunde Bakare — Tinubu.

The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said he will never call the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, his president.

The cleric and politician, during a webinar on Saturday, alleged a series of malpractices during the 2023 elections, saying the Independent National Electoral Commission made a mess of the electioneering process.

He said this while responding during a Question & Answer session after delivering his speech on the Zoom programme titled ‘Building the New Nigeria: The Role of the Diaspora’ organised by the PTB4Nigeria In Diaspora Group.

The meeting, which began at 7pm and was monitored by our correspondent, had over 200 participants.

While speaking earlier during the programme, he said the 2023 elections were below acceptable standards.

When asked if he would be happy to work for the new government as a Minister of Diaspora Engagements, he laughed and said he would say what he said to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), last week.

He said he told Buhari that sometimes he called him President of Nigeria and other times, he called him “My President.”

Bakare said, “Last Wednesday, I was at the Glass House where he (Buhari) has been restricted now because the main house is being renovated. I said I have done that for you. I want you to know that, because of the circumstances of your flying into power on the wings of integrity and incorruptibility, but you’re now passing by someone who does not have that value.

He said that at “any public lecture anywhere, before this mess is cleared off, I will address Asiwaju (Tinubu) as a President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but I will never call him my president.”He said he didn’t participate in the elections, and therefore, no one could say he lost.

Bakare, who participated in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary in June 2022, where nomination forms were sold for N100 million, polled no single vote.

Briefly touching this, he said, “I participated in the primary, and there were hundreds (of persons) who participated only by stepping down, so there is no shame in what we have done. We spoke truth to power within seven minutes.”

“I wasn’t there when they voted, I wasn’t there when they scored (me) zero, but we won that badge of zero and badge of honour,” he said, adding that this was because some defeats that were more triumphant than victories.

Answering the question, he said if he was called to be a minister under the incoming government, there would be conditions to it, “but I am not desperate to be a minister, not at all. I was offered it before but I turned it down. My life is not just to take photographs with the president and shake hands.

Senate In Emergency Plenary Over CBN Act Others.

On Saturday morning, the Nigerian Senate commenced an emergency plenary over the amendment of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act 2004. Recall that the sitting days for the Senate plenary are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. However, a plenary was fixed for 10 a.m. on Saturday. Though the session started a few minutes past 11 a.m.

According to the order paper, the bills up for debate are: A Bill for an Act to Amend the 2022 Supplementary Appropriation Act and for other matters connected therewith, 2023 (SB. 1124) – Second Reading. (Sen. Gobir, Ibrahim Abdullahi (Sokoto East-Senate Leader).
Also, a Bill for an Act to Amend the Central Bank of Nigeria Act C4 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 004 and for Other Matters Connected Thereto, 2023 (SB. 1125) – Second Reading Sen. Gobir, Ibrahim Abdullahi (Sokoto East-Senate Leader).

2 Ministers stepped down as Buhari’s tenure ends.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi has stepped down after handing over the affairs of the ministry to the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr Abel Enitan.

Also, the minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo also bid farewell to the ministry, stating that he has moved the ministry higher than when he came in.

 The minister of Police Affairs, while appreciating the staff of the ministry, said it was their hard work, dedication, and commitment that lead to the successes recorded at the ministry.

The minister also said they have achieved 95 per cent of their mandate and the establishment of the Police Trust Fund, and purchasing and equipping the Nigeria Police were some of his achievements.

Tinubu’s Inauguration: Peter Obi Sends Message To Nigerians.

Ahead of tomorrow’s swearing-in of the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the last election, Peter Obi, has urged his supporters and citizens, in general, to remain calm and law-abiding, as only the court of law will decide the actual winner of the poll in due course.

Obi who spoke on the sidelines of an event in Kaduna State, stated that the unity, peace and security of the country is paramount than any other interest, and as such, he called on all citizens to be law-abiding and work for the progress and development of the country.

“We must continue to live on the path of peace, religious harmony, ethnic harmony, and coexistence, that is the most important thing for now.

“Let’s have a peaceful, quiet Nigeria where the government will concentrate on caring for the sufferings of the people,” the LP flagbearer stated.

LP Crisis: Apapa’s Faction Insists Abure Remains Suspended, Rejects High Court Judgement.

The Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) National Working Committee (NWC) has insisted that the National Chairman of the Party, Julius Abure remained suspended, rejecting the ruling of the Edo State High Court.
This news platform recalls that some Labour Party members at the ward level had issued a notice of suspension to Abure.

However, the Edo High Court judge, Justice Emmanuel Aihamoje, threw away the case on Friday for lacking merit.

At the court session, which reportedly lasted about two hours on Friday, Aihamoje said that the party ward executive in Uromi in Ward 3 lacked the power under the LP constitution, particularly Act 13 & 17 and the Electoral Act 2022, as amended to remove the national chairman of the party.

Therefore, the judge in Suit No: HUC/21/2023 imposed a perpetual injunction against Lamidi Apapa and his faction from removing or suspending Abure as the national chairman until a new national convention of the party is convened.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari has opened up about her public criticism of some of her husband’s policies.
Aisha’s revelation is coming a few days before President Muhammadu Buhari’s handing over power to his successor, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on May 29, 2023.

Aisha in an interview with The Sun explained her motivations behind her outspoken comments, saying that she voiced her critique to safeguard the reputation of her family and to provide assistance to her husband.

The First Lady when ask for being an outspoken critic in the Villa said, “For me, any decision that is taken for the interest of one person and not for the general public’s interests, I normally step aside and go against it.

“Because they did not know how we came in, we came in because of the love Nigerian people have for my husband, the trust, you know, and then after coming in, the expectations. So, I told myself we cannot afford that, I just knew my husband needed help.”

I Would Have Stopped Work Last Year – Fashola.

The outgoing Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has disclosed that left to him alone, he would have stopped work as a minister since last year.
This is as the minister said he had already prepared his handover note since September 2022.

      Fashola, who was reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that all cabinet members should continue work in their various offices till May 29, 2023, said he would have left what was remaining for the next government to take over.
The minister made this disclosure at the contract signing ceremony for the value-added concession under the highway’s development & management initiative.

He submitted that “So there is a conversation going on out there, asking why we are still working. People are asking why we are awarding contracts, so maybe we should stop here and wait for the incoming administration to sign this agreement.”

Appeal Court Suspends Judgement Sacking Alex Otti, Other LP Candidates.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kano State has ordered a stay of execution in the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano, presided over by Justice M N Yunusa.

Justice Yunusa had in a judgement declared all the votes cast for Labour Party candidates in Kano, Abia and other states as wasted votes.
This follows an application filed by the Abia State governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti.
Otti’s legal team appealed that he be joined as an interested party while having the lower court’s judgment suspended pending determination of the case before it. The request was granted by the Appeal Court.

Tinubu won’t remove any fuel subsidy, when becomes the president- Fashola.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has stated that the coming administration of Bola Tinubu does not have any fuel subsidy to remove when it comes into power on May 29th.

Babatunde Fashola revealed that the truth of the matter is that fuel subsidy has already been removed by the administration of Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking further, Babatunde Fashola said that there is a misconception that subsidy will be removed by Bola Tinubu because Nigerians see subsidy only as price, by the truth is that subsidy is policy driven by law and financing.

Babatunde Fashola explained that the 2023 has no subsidy component beyond the month of June and as a matter of policy, the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has already ended subsidy.

Explaining further, Babatunde Fashola stated that as a matter of law, the Nigerian people has passed a law to end subsidy in June through the petroleum industry act. Babatunde Fashola disclosed that the only thing left for Bola Tinubu’s administration to do is to manage the impact of the subsidy removal.

Police Foil Attempt by Two Women to Sell A 2 Month Old Baby.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Friday, May 26, 2023 successfully foiled an attempt by two women to sell a two-month old baby.

Lagos State Command PRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement on Saturday explains that the deal was uncovered in Oshodi when one Oge Okolie, aged 25, the intermediary between the mother of the baby and prospective buyer was suspected of stealing the baby.

“Passengers on a public bus noticed ceaseless crying from the baby with Okolie and questioned why she could not breastfeed it if it were her own biological child.

“The suspect was about to be lynched when RRS operatives quickly stepped in to rescue her as well as the baby.” he said.

SP Hundeyin noted that preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the mother of the baby, one Maria Ahmadu ‘f’ aged 26.

Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi has since transferred the suspects and baby to the Gender Unit of the Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Suspected militants invade, hijack Radio Station.

Hoodlums suspected to be members of the Yoruba Nation agitators reportedly hijacked Amuludun 99.1 FM in Ibadan in the early hours of Sunday.

The radio station, according to some staff who spoke with DAILY POST, was hijacked around 6 am on Sunday.

Amuludun FM is a community station owned by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

A staff member of the station informed DAILY POST that the suspects invaded the station with various forms of charms. That is what we witnessed this morning. They hijacked the station around 6 am. But they had been at the station before that time.

They came with various forms of charms. They woke our staff, who were sleeping. Some of our staff have fled. We are yet to see some of our staff. But the security [personnel] are on ground now,” he said.

Another source said that the station has gone off the air.

The General Manager of the station, Mr. Stephen Agbaje, confirmed the development to DAILY POST but stressed that the situation has been brought under control by the security agencies.

He added that some arrests have been made.“Some group of agitators came around in the night, and took over the station, but the situation has been brought under control by the security agents. They were able to recover the station, and some arrests have been made,” he said.

Buhari Failed To Deliver On His Electoral Promises, Bungled 2023 Elections-Bode George

A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode George, has described the outgoing administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as a colossal failure.

George, who spoke in Lagos on Friday in an interview with selected media said he would only give the Buhari led administration 5% having failed to secure the country, reflate the economy and fight corruption which were the three major planks of the change mantra.

The PDP chieftain said unfortunately, even the free and fair election that he promised through the use of BVAS, which the Prof Mahmoud Yakabu led Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, promised will be a game changer failed when it mattered most.

He said; “My personal assessment is that they failed, not completely in every sector, but if you do an exam and say you must have a minimum of 33% then you can go to the next class, but they did not attain that 33%.

“If I give them maybe about 5%, even the 5% requires a lot of introspection, the economic sector, the education, agricultural and infrastructural sector, the most important thing you must guarantee to your people as a government is security of lives and property. Who is safe now? Whether you’re a poor man, middle aged, when you are walking towards any direction, you have to be looking, front, back, left and Centre.

“So, it is very, very disheartening and heartbreaking that the number one job, which is to guarantee security of lives and property has failed.

“So for me, I’m in a quagmire, heavily disappointed, but the almighty in his words says that, the journey of life cannot be in a straight line all the time, there are times we need the bump, sometimes the round about, sometimes we go into the tunnel, I believe we will learn and make mistakes and I now quote the words of General Powell, the former chief of defense staff in the US armed forces, he said “ the only mistake a human being can make is the one that you do not learn lessons from, but if you learn from it, it’s no longer a mistake” those are heavy words, so for them the end of another era, you know when he was coming in, oga was telling us, I would fight corruption, I will secure the lives and properties of the people, I will do this, I will do that, all kinds of promises.So let’s put those promises now into his departure, because that’s what will be written in the pages of history, so whatever a leader does during his time, it is on the pages of history.

“So now I’m saying that we are starting another journey on the 29th, we must be full of prayers, because, I worked with oga before, I think maybe age is not on his side, he came out around the middle of last year, publicly and internationally and stated that, look, I am going to leave one legacy, that the electoral process in this country will be second to none in the world, the mess we used to call election process will be a thing of the past, that they were going to buy a technology that will remove interlopers, manipulation and manipulating people, straight from your polling unit into the control center, we organized a party here that that is the end of madness in Nigeria, we were so happy, we even popped a champagne here, they said are you sure? I said it’s a general who is talking, okay.

“They budgeted, released the money, bought the equipment, headed to do the test run in Anambra, flawless! Did a test run in Ekiti, flawless! Did another one in Osun state.

“But on this final election, Professor Yakubu made a broadcast and reassured Nigerians that they have done a test run, no problem we were all sitting hoping that for the first time the will of the people will prevail, whatever you vote will be the answer, and then on that D-day, Professor Yakubu, told us there was a glitch, on the D-day and the 8hour like we say in the military, it was disgraceful, shambolic, it wrenched my heart.

“All hopes were on the fact that yes! There was going to be Justice, fairness and equity and the respect for the will of the people, shamelessly they said there was a glitch.They now went back to the way we used to do it, what happened to all the money, all the many talks, and if you look at it that way, you come back and sit down, yes I retired as a general, there’s a lot of differences between the military and the civil, but haven gotten all the training we had, the best thing you can do to your country is bring about that experience into the system to make sure we do not default.We do not degrade, we do not fall to the lower level, look!.

“We have almost hit the bottom in this nation, take any sector, there was a time the children in the university were home for almost nine months, no school, no nothing, the teachers were asking for their salaries.
“Look at our economic area now, the interest rate, few days ago was increased to 18.2% by the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

“Who will go and borrow now? Unless you’re a thief or you know you’re going to default, because you will pass on that extra to the people, in the main time, the consumers, what’s their take home? So what are we breeding? Who is driving who? Inflation rate has also soared to more than 22%. What the hell is going on? I’m not a pessimist, but facts are facts.
“Where are we on the committee of nations?

“The giant of Africa, for every 10 Africans, 7 are Nigerians, and look every high level professionalism, anywhere in the world, you would find half a Nigerian there who is an expert. So what is wrong?
“God didn’t create us like this , all these ‘Wahala’ I’m talking about are handmade, self inflicted, let’s put those who can put a smile on our face to run this country, it’s like ship that is taking water and you’re not stopping it.”Who wants us now?”

” The G-20 don’t even invite us again, they are now saying Rwanda, what’s the total population of Rwanda? We sent our armed forces to help in liberating South Africa, Zimbabwe, Sierra-leone, Liberia, Mali, so what is wrong with us?”.

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, yesterday, said he has forgiven President-elect Bola Tinubu.

George, who analysed the outgoing administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, declared that he failed to live up to expectations.

The PDP leader, in a chat with journalists at his Ikoyi office, added that the Buhari administration did not impact the lives of Nigerians positively, saying he failed to provide security which was his core responsibility.

His words: “My personal assessment is that he failed, not completely in every sector, but if you do an examination and say you must have a minimum of 33 per cent, then you can go to the next class, but they did not attain that 33 per cent. I can give them maybe about five per cent, even the five per cent requires a lot of retrospection. The most important thing you must guarantee to your people, as a government, is security of lives and property, who is safe now?

“So it is very very disheartening and heartbreaking that he failed in his number one job, which is to guarantee security of lives and property. You know when he was coming in, oga (Buhari) was telling us, I would fight corruption, I will secure the lives and properties of the people, I will do this, I will do that, all kinds of promises.
“So let’s put those promises now into his departure, because that’s what will be written on the pages of history. Whatever a leader does during his time, it is on the pages of history.”

Asked whether he would work with Tinubu if called upon, George said: “There is nothing personal, this country trained me and I have to give back.”
On his reluctance to endorse Tinubu, he said: “I have forgiven him, but you cannot forget.”
