CP Owohunwa Decorates Funsho Gabriel Thomas and other 36 Newly Promoted Officers, Demands Special Consideration In Reward Programme.

The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa has posited that police officers in Lagos are the most diligent and resilient cops that deal with the most complexes set of crimes in the country.

He therefore, appealed to the Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba to continue to give special consideration in his reward programme to officers serving in the state.

Owohunwa suggested that the consideration could be done through the sustainace of instrument of promotions and other reward system.

The Police Commissioner made the assertions, Tuesday when he decorated the 36 newly promoted senior officers with their ranks at the command headquarters, Ikeja.

Speaking further, he emphasised that the incentive would make such beneficial officer serving in the state to know he is being appreciated for the great job being done.

Expressing gladness over the promotion, Owohunwa pointed out that the welfare and promotion scheme represents a critical component of the agenda and leadership vision of the Inspector General of Police.

According to him, IGP Usman Alkali has been consistent in ensuring that officers with unblemished records are put forward for promotion as at when due subject to available vacancies.

His words, ”  On behalf of the Lagos State Command, I wish to specially convey our appreciation to the IGP.

In doing so, also to remind the IGP that in Lagos State Command, we’ re not only composed of the highest numbers of Police officers in this country, we also constitute the crop of the most diligent and most resilient in this country. We deal with the most complexes set of crimes, meaning we face higher level of challenges.

” In appreciating the IGP for what is being done today, we also want to appeal to him to continue to give special consideration in his reward programme to the Nigeria Police Force to Lagos State Command. This can be done through the sustainace of instrument of promotion, it could also be done through other reward systems that will make a Lagos State officer know he is being appreciated for the great job he or she is doing for the nation in Lagos State”.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner of Police Railway Command, Yetunde Longe charged the officers to brace up for the new task ahead of them.

” I want to implore you all  that to whom much is giving, much is expected. We normally say the higher is goes, the cooler, but it is not so in the Nigeria Police Force. The reward for hardwork is more hard work, you have to continue to work hard , as much is expected of you now that you are at that cadre I will call the management team of the command. You should live up to expectations and be professional”, she counselled.

In his own contribution, an erstwhile Archbishop of the Lagos Anglican Communion Archbishop Ephraim Ademowo charged  the officers to always put in the best in the discharge of their duty and continue to go the extra mile. For those still expecting their promotion, the clergy urged them to put God first, continue to be faithful and not be frustrated, assuring that the promotion will come someday.
