The recent attacks around our schools, hospitals and other assaults on our women and children led to the creation of a Special Female Squad by the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Headquarters, Abuja, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, in order to forestall and keep an eye on these notorious acts of banditry, among others in the country.

Audi added that “In order to reposition, rejig, resuscitate, restrategize and properly equip the Corps across the country, there is the urgent need for the Corps to establish a Special Female Squad which would be positioned for tasks such as monitoring and keeping a 24-hour surveillance on our schools: primary, post- primary and tertiary institutions across the country thereby taming the incessant attacks and abduction of innocent children in our schools”.

In the words of the Commandant General, “these children are leaders of tomorrow and it is in our best interest to give them the best opportunities and environment to learn and be great men and women, tomorrow”.

The command PRO, Ogbonaya made this known in a statement on Monday, 16th of August that the Corps Commandant General mandated all commands to key into this vision and mission by training and retraining their female squads for possible attacks and other eventualities across the various commands of the federation.

Therefore, in line with the dreams of the Commandant General, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, led by the State Commandant, Mr Kolawole Taiwo, launched the Ogun State Command’s Special Female Squad (SFS) on Monday, August 16, 2021 as part of the command’s preparedness to ward-off all forms of attacks, assaults and illegal activities on our critical national assets and infrastructure in the State.

According to the state Commandant, “this is the first batch of the special female squad and the training would continue in the bid to equip and emancipate on the dreams and aspirations of the Commandant General and most importantly, in order to give the needed support and assistance for the citizenry during periods of emergencies”.

He further stated that the command would raise, in the first instance, a total of 50 special female squad upon which would continue to add more in subsequent trainings and retraining which has become a routine exercise in making the most use of our human resources towards the betterment of the Corps and the nation at large.

Commandant Taiwo urged the SFS team to be good ambassadors of the Corps in every assignment they are being deployed to and to always have the interest of the nation on their minds.
