Hours of ruinous heavy down pour, Lagosians were stranded, houses flooded, cars submerged.

Some areas in Lagos state were flooded on Friday, following heavy down pour that lasted for hours. Actually, It has been raining consistently in Lagos since Wednesday.
V/ Island to Marina, Idumota, from Lekki to Ajah, also Ladipo to Ikeja, Idumagbo to Oshodi, among other areas, residents were seen struggling to wade through the flood, as the water level reached above people’s ankles, and  around the knees.
The water level scared residents as they were stranded and were unable to move for fear of being swept away by the flood. Also some cars were seen submerged, which caused traffic congestion and some houses were flooded with water as well.
Earlier on Friday, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had issued safety precautions to residents, advising them not to move about or drive once the water level rises.
According to the statement,“Once the rainwater gets to half of the wheels, it sweeps off your vehicle. Kindly park and move on to higher ground for safety,” Ibrahim Farinloye, acting assistant coordinator, south-west zonal office, NEMA.
“The rainwater must have risen above our ankles. Once it happens like this, the flood has the capacity to carry us off.”
