IGP Restricts Monitoring Operating Unit, Closes Satellite Offices in Lagos, Rivers states.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, in furtherance of his efforts to refocuse the Force, has approved the closure with immediate effect of the satellite offices of the IGP’s Monitoring Unit in Lagos and Rivers states.
In a statement signed by Ag. CP Idowu Owohunwa, PSO to the IGP noted that the Unit, will henceforth revert to its original mandate of handling cases of complaints of professional infractions, misconduct unless otherwise directed by the IGP.
The statement further stated that there will be rationalization of the staff profile of the unit in Force Headquarters to not more than fifty (50) personnel.
The statement read: “In furtherance to efforts of the IGP’s to refocus the Force, IGP has approved as follows, in relation to the structure and operation of the IGP’s Monitoring Unit.
“The closure with immediate effect of the Satellite Offices of the Unit in Lagos and Rivers states.
“The rationalization of the staff profile of the Unit in Force Headquarters, FHQ, to not more than fifty (50) personnel. In consequence, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, IGP Monitoring Unit is to submit the comprehensive nominal roll of the Unit to this office not later than Monday, 12th April, 2021 and to work with undersigned in giving full effect to this directive.
“Henceforth, in line with the original mandate of the Unit, cases to be referred for investigation by the Unit will be streamlined to complaints of professional infractions/misconduct unless otherwise directed by the Inspector-General of Police.
“It is the added directive of the Inspector-General of Police that his order be given full effect not later than Friday, 16th April, 2021”.
