Ondo Election: Agboola will end  insecurity — Olafeso

I will prioritise the safety and security of every citizen in Ondo State– Ajayi

A prominent leader of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, and Chairman of the Agboola Ajayi Campaign Council, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, stated that the party’s candidate has a well-structured manifesto that, when implemented, will transform the fortunes of the state.

Speaking at a town hall meeting with traditional rulers in Ifon, the headquarters of the Ose local government area, Dr. Olafeso emphasized that Ajayi has a proven track record of good leadership, considering his past accomplishments. Lamenting the rising insecurity in the state, particularly the killing of the late Olufon of Ifón, the PDP chieftain described the situation as tragic, noting that no suspects have been apprehended thus far.

While seeking the support of the traditional rulers and residents of Ose local government area, Dr. Olafeso assured them that if the PDP is voted into power, the people would benefit significantly. Regarding plans to educate the public about their voting rights, he explained that the party has made significant strides in public enlightenment, urging the electorate to defend their votes and not succumb to intimidation.

“The people of Ondo State are enjoined to troop out to vote for the candidate of their choice and not be deterred by the presence of security personnel, who are meant to protect and not intimidate them. This election will be different, and the people must rescue themselves from the present situation in the state. This is to reassure the Ondo State electorate that the PDP will help safeguard their rights during the election and that no votes will be stolen because the people will secure their votes themselves”, Olafeso said.

He urged security personnel not to intimidate voters during the election, imploring them to be professional in their duties. “I advise the security personnel not to take sides; they should focus on their constitutional responsibilities of defending the rights of the people,” he added.

On his part, the PDP governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi, promised to bring governance to the grassroots level, assuring massive security for lives and property through the reinforcement of the Amotekun Corps with modern equipment. “I promise to prioritise the safety and security of every citizen in Ondo State. I will implement effective strategies and strengthen our security forces including Amotekun to ensure that our communities are safe and secure.“Together, we will put an end to insecurity and create a peaceful environment for all”, Ajayi stated.
