AKWA IBOM STATE POLICE COMMAND IS PREPARED FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS WITH RESTRICTION OF MOVEMENTS ON SATURDAY 5TH OCTOBER, 2024

Ahead of the Local Government elections billed to hold across the thirty one Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State on Saturday 5th October, 2024, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police CP Joseph Eribo has directed a watertight security across the State. The Police Command will be assisted by other Sister Security agencies.

In a statement by ASP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer Akwa Ibom State Police Command said, this release is to inform members of the Public that there shall be restriction of movement of persons and vehicles from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday 5th October, 2024.

However, only persons providing essential services for purposes of that election such as the following: accredited staff of AKISIEC, accredited media and election observers, accredited Health service providers, accredited Security operatives and any other accredited personnel identified by law are exempted from this restriction as long as they can provide a valid means of identification.

By this circular, the Commissioner of Police calls on all Political actors and players to eschew all forms of pre, during and post election violence, utterances and actions capable of heating up the system and creating panic in the State. The CP also calls on the electorate to be civil in their conducts as the Force will not condone any act capable of creating panic, tension or crisis in the State.

As a Security agency, the CP promises that every citizen of the State shall enjoy the full protection and coverage of the Police and other Sister security Agencies.
