The preference for the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, His Excellency, Agboola Ajayi, as the choice of the majority in the Ondo State scheduled gubernatorial election, was further reinforced on Wednesday, when over a thousand All Progressives Congress (APC) women in Akure South Local Government decamped to the PDP.

The defectors promised to work assiduously for the emergence of the PDP candidate as the next Governor of the state.

The women were received into the PDP at the Party’s secretariat, Alagbaka, in the state capital Akure, by the Acting Chairman of the PDP, Chief Tola Alabere, the Party’s candidate, Agboola Ajayi and the party leaders that include , Chief Tayo Dario, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso, Rt Hon Bakita Bello among others

The decampees from some wards of the Akure South Chapter of the APC were led by Mrs Bola Afe ward 7, Mrs Folasade Ayodele ward 5, Mrs Risikat Gboyega ward 8, and Mrs kikelomo Disu ward 9.

The defectors said the inhuman policies of the APC have made it impossible for them as leading members in the state, to continue to identify publicly with the party and it’s gubernatorial candidate.

Speaking through Mrs Risikat Gboyega, the decampees said “we live among the people, we see and hear things.

“Agbo has become an household name on the lips of the people as the candidate they believe can restore our State and the dignity of it’s people. “We have known the candidate as a talk and do politician who love to see people grow.

“We can’t continue with lies, we know that the truth will surely prevail, so, we have decided to be part of the process to install him as our next Governor and we assure the entire people of the state that Agbo has come to stay, no enchantments or any amount of treachery can change this fact ” .

Chief Alabere, while welcoming the new members assured them that have equal privileges that all members of the Party possess. He assured them that they will be treated equally with those they met in the Party, adding that the PDP is practical democratic setting.

Ajayi on his part thanked the decampees for the confidence they have in him. “Now, together with the new entrants, the journey to recover, reclaim, and redefine Ondo State has begun.

“All hands must be on deck, and ensure that no stone is left unturned in the determination to reclaim the state. He stated.
