Lagos Police arrest one member of a three-men robbery gang 40 minutes after snatching a Toyota Yaris from the owner

A member of a three-man robbery gang was on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command while the others fled 40 minutes after the gang snatched a Toyota Yaris from the owner.

Lagos State Police Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who announced the development on his X handle, disclosed that the robber, whose name was given as Stanley Eshett, aged 29 years, was arrested after the car was snatched at the Abaranje area of the state.

 

     The Suspect arrested

According to Hundeyin, officers attached to the Ikotun Division of the command, while on neighbourhood patrol around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, flagged down the Toyota Yaris with three occupants inside.

However, on sighting the policemen, the occupants were said to have abandoned the car and then fled. An intense search of the area led to the arrest of Stanley Eshett.

He was promptly taken into custody.
Hundeyin wrote: “The car owner who was successfully contacted showed up and identified the suspect as one of the persons that violently took the car from him 40 minutes earlier.”

According to the PPRO, he had given more useful information to the police operatives and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.  Also, a manhunt had been launched for the arrest of the fleeing members of the robbery gang.
