Vandal Caught: So-Safe Corps Nabs Cable Thief at Ogun Stadium
The So-Safe Corps, Ogun State’s community safety unit, has taken into custody 24-year-old Aliyu Umaru for suspected theft and vandalism of underground cables at Ilaro’s Gateway Stadium.
This information was released in a statement by Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, Director of Information and Public Relations, from the Office of State Commander Dr. Soji Ganzallo.
According to the statement, on Tuesday, April 23, 2025, officers from the Ilaro Area Command conducting a routine patrol spotted suspicious activity around the Gateway Stadium in Yewa South Local Government Area during the early hours.
Upon arrival, the officers found Aliyu Umaru vandalizing and stealing cables and apprehended him on the spot. The suspect was questioned and a stash of stolen cables, along with a cutlass and scissors, were retrieved from him, Commander Ganzallo revealed.
The suspect and the recovered items have been turned over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Ilaro Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and potential prosecution.
The So-Safe Corps appeals to the public to report any suspicious activities to help secure public infrastructure across Ogun State.
