…Ifelodun LCDA Responds to Inibehe Effiong: Shette Olu and Oke Oja Reveal the Truth About Alabi Quadri

The confirmation of Alabi Quadiri’s arrest, believed to be the young man who stood before the convoy of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, became public knowledge after lawyer Mr. Inibehe Effiong published an online article titled “Nigeria Has Happened to Alabi Quadiri”

The lawyer’s publication actually calls for compassion from the global community and the federal government to secure the release of Alabi Quadri, the young man who was arrested and detained for allegedly being involved in an armed robbery case. According to the lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, Quadri’s arrest and detention stemmed from an incident where he was abducted by “area boys” who accused him of not sharing money he received after standing in front of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi’s convoy.

Effiong asserts that Quadri is innocent and a victim of Nigeria’s criminal justice system, having been detained since January without trial. The lawyer seeks to secure Quadri’s freedom, arguing that his detention is unjust.

The community has denied the story, stating it’s false, clarified the facts, about the misleading viral publication. Shete Olu and Oke Oja communities within the Ifelodun Local Council Development Area of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area in Lagos State have disputed the accuracy of an online article titled “Nigeria has happened to Alabi Quadri” authored by Inibehe Effiong.

Investigation by our correspondent reveals that the incident happened shortly after these rival cult groups apparently clashed in December 2024 over funds shared during a Christmas carol event, resulting in the death of Kamal Suleiman, aka SARS, a suspected cult member. Following the incident, the group members allegedly fled. Research indicates that the area is said to be home to cult groups, including the Pako Boys and Canal Boys.

Further investigation indicates that Alabi Quadri, also known as Ope, is among five suspects standing trial at the Apapa Magistrate Court. They face charges related to their alleged involvement in a notorious cult group linked to the death of Kamal Suleiman, aka SARS, and a robbery incident on January 25, 2025. The Lagos police have confirmed the arrest of Alabi Quadri and others in connection with a gang allegedly linked to the robbery of Amukoko residents this year.

Prosecutors have advised the lawyer to concentrate on the 2025 crime case, rather than drawing connections to the 2023 political landscape. Meanwhile, reports indicate that most suspects involved in the January 25 robbery have fled Amukoko, with the Lagos police actively pursuing the gang.

Some suspects linked to cult groups involved in the robbery have been apprehended by the police. This development comes as the community seeks increased security measures, with the Lagos police working to maintain law and order.

The Community Development Area of Shette Olu Oke Oja and surrounding neighborhoods in Amukoko, Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, have appealed to State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, to enhance security measures in the area.

While expressing appreciation for the Amukoko Police Division’s bravery in combating crime, the community is seeking heightened vigilance to guarantee their safety.
