CP Ronke Nurat Okunade Heads Lagos Police Special Fraud Unit, Lagos
The Police Special Fraud Unit in Lagos announces the formal assumption of duty by CP Ronke Nurat Okunade fsi as the 31st Commissioner of Police, effective April 9, 2025. This appointment follows the retirement of CP Godwin Ayotunde Omodeinde on April 4, 2025. With her new role, CP Okunade is poised to lead the unit effectively, building on her extensive experience and expertise in policing.

DSP Ovie K. Ewhubare, the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) at the Police Special Fraud Unit in Ikoyi-Lagos, has shared information about CP Ronke Nurat Okunade’s background. According to him, CP Okunade hails from Ogbomosho, specifically Ogbomosho North Local Government Area of Oyo State. She’s also a proud alumnus of the University of Ibadan, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
CP Ronke Nurat Okunade’s law enforcement career began in 1992 when she enlisted as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. Following her training, she was assigned to the Ondo State Command for a one-year mandatory attachment, initiating her distinguished policing journey.
CP Ronke Nurat Okunade has held various roles throughout her distinguished career, including:
-2ic Kawo Division, Kaduna State Command
-DPO Apapa Divison, Railway Command
-DPO Apata Division, Oyo State Command
-CSP Admin, Ondo State Command
-Acting Area Commander Ebute Meta, Railway Command
-AC Admin Lagos Command
-DC Admin FCID Annex Lagos
-DC Admin Cross River State Command amongst other numerous postings.
Upon her elevation to the rank of Commissioner of Police, she was the Commissioner of Police in charge of General Investigation FCID Annex, Lagos. These roles demonstrate her extensive experience and versatility in law enforcement.
She has attended various courses within and outside Nigeria including;
-Citizenship and Leadership Training
-Police Mobile Force Combat Training
-Intermediate Command Course (ICC)
-Human Rights Course
-Strategic Leadership and Command Course (SLC)
-Comprehensive Criminology Management Course
-Community Policing Course, and is a Fellow of the National Institute for Security Studies.
CP Ronke Nurat Okunade expressed gratitude to Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for entrusting her with the leadership role at the Police Special Fraud Unit.
She assured that the unit will maintain its high level of professionalism, adhering to existing laws. This development comes after her appointment as the 31st Commissioner of Police in charge of the unit, following the retirement of CP Godwin Ayotunde Omodeinde.
CP Ronke Nurat Okunade is calling on the public and key stakeholders to support and cooperate with the Police Special Fraud Unit in Lagos as it carries out its responsibilities.
This appeal comes as she assumes her new role as the unit’s 31st Commissioner of Police, following the retirement of her predecessor, CP Godwin Ayotunde Omodeinde. With her extensive experience and expertise in law enforcement, CP Okunade aims to maintain a high level of professionalism within the unit.
