The Customs Area Controller of Tincan Island Port Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, has reiterated the need for security agencies across Nigeria to prioritize national security and strengthen their cooperation.

Speaking while receiving the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Badagry, Navy Captain Omotayo Busuyi Oyeleye, in his office, Comptroller Onyeka emphasized that beyond revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling efforts, the Tincan Island Port Command is committed to fostering strong synergy with other security agencies.

“To achieve a safe and prosperous nation, all security agencies in the country must prioritize national security and reinforce collaboration among themselves,” Onyeka stated.

He highlighted the importance of joint efforts to deter criminal activities at the seaports, describing them as detrimental to national development.

Navy Commends Customs’ Role in Joint Operations

Navy Captain Omotayo Busuyi Oyeleye commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for its active participation in joint patrols and maritime security operations.

“The Nigeria Customs Service has always risen to the occasion of joint patrol, and such input has been pivotal to the success of joint operations,” Oyeleye acknowledged.

He praised the Nigerian Navy’s continuous efforts in ensuring maritime security, particularly in preventing sea robberies and illegal activities.

Strengthening Collaboration with the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service

In another development, Comptroller Onyeka paid a familiarization visit to the Controllers of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS) at PTML and Tincan Island Commands.

During the visit, which took place at the Quarantine Office in Tincan, he reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing collaboration.

“We will continue to integrate the Quarantine Service into the Command’s activities for better synergy,” Onyeka assured.

His visit aimed at reinforcing cooperation between both agencies to enhance efficiency and national security at the ports.
