IGP Egbetokun Receives African Union Envoy, Earns Commendation for Notable Feats
As NPF Pledges Reinforced Support
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun received Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace & Security of the African Union Commission, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on April 4, 2025. This meeting marked a significant diplomatic engagement between the Nigerian Police Force and the African Union, highlighting their collaborative efforts to enhance peace and security in the region.
According to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Spokesperson, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye was joined by Samuel Victor Makwe from the Nigerian Embassy in Addis Ababa and other high-ranking African Union officials during his visit to the Nigerian Police Force headquarters. This delegation underscores the collaborative efforts between the Nigerian government and international partners in enhancing regional peace and security.
Ambassador Bankole Adeoye praised the Nigeria Police Force for their exceptional service, particularly in peacekeeping operations in Somalia, where they’ve demonstrated remarkable professionalism and competence. The African Union is grateful for the Force’s vital contributions to regional peace and security, envisioning a better society through their continued efforts.
The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of collaboration in combating transnational crimes, urging the NPF to enhance both local and international mechanisms for effective crime fighting.
