In a heartwarming display of corporate social responsibility, Glo Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Globacom, brought joy and relief to thousands of underprivileged Nigerians in Ikota community, Lagos, with a generous donation of food and household essentials.

Just two Saturdays prior, Glo Foundation had extended a helping hand to Bariga community, distributing food and essential household items to thousands of vulnerable residents. During an poignant ceremony within the community, thousands of recipients, predominantly women, tearfully accepted their relief packages from Globacom officials and representatives of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, their collaborative partner in the project.

By 7 a.m., a sea of expectant faces had already gathered at the New Generation Baptist School in Ikota, eagerly awaiting the start of the distribution exercise that would bring much-needed relief to thousands of beneficiaries.

In her welcome address, Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Globacom, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to empowering the underprivileged. She emphasized that a core objective of the Glo Foundation is to provide vital support to the most vulnerable populations nationwide.

She added that “giving brings joy and smiles to the faces of the beneficiaries as we have seen here today. It also makes us happy that we are able to do something to touch the lives of others in a highly interdependent world”. She stated that the Foundation was working on other projects that would impact various segments across the country.

The atmosphere was filled with jubilation as beneficiaries broke into songs and dances, expressing their heartfelt gratitude to Globacom. In heartfelt testimonials, some recipients shared their delight and blessings, wishing the company prosperity in return for their kindness.

Overwhelmed with emotion, the predominantly female beneficiaries erupted in joy and excitement at the event. In heartfelt expressions of gratitude, several recipients praised and offered blessings to Globacom for demonstrating exceptional love and care to their community through the food distribution.

Christina Itoro, a POS operator from Akwa Ibom, was thrilled with the contents of the package. ‘I was overjoyed when I opened the carton and saw what was inside. God bless the company and its staff,’ she exclaimed.

Similarly, Sarah Oliseh, a housewife, expressed her gratitude, saying, ‘I’m extremely happy and grateful to Globacom for this generous gift. It will make a significant difference for my family and me.’

Godwin Mary, a Kunu drink vendor, was particularly grateful as Globacom’s intervention came at a critical time when her business was struggling to stay afloat. The Benue State native expressed heartfelt thanks to Globacom for remembering and supporting her, as well as other women, in the Ikate community.
