Police operatives from the Ogun State Command demonstrated exceptional teamwork and swift action, successfully rescuing Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Hakeem Odumosu. The operatives not only saved Mrs. Odumosu unharmed but also neutralized two of her kidnappers and recovered the N10 million ransom paid to them.

A statement signed by the Force Spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said, reports indicate that Mrs. Odumosu was kidnapped on January 16, 2025, by four masked gunmen outside her Arepo, Ogun State residence. Acting swiftly, police operatives successfully tracked the kidnappers to a remote creek in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Following a tense confrontation, two kidnappers were apprehended, while four others escaped, leaving behind their weapons.
On January 16, 2025, at around 9:45 PM, a frightening scene unfolded outside Mrs. Odumosu’s residence in Arepo, Ogun State. Four masked gunmen stormed her Lexus Jeep, forcibly abducting her in a shocking turn of events. The incident triggered a swift response from the Ogun State Police Command’s anti-kidnapping unit, which launched a thorough investigation and pursued the kidnappers aggressively.

Backed by the Force Headquarters’ cutting-edge technical intelligence, Ogun State police operatives launched a thorough surveillance operation, closely monitoring the creeks around Arepo. This meticulous effort yielded crucial intel, ultimately leading to a daring raid on January 23, 2025, at 06:45 AM. The police, armed with precise information, descended upon a creek in Ikorodu’s swampy terrain, where the kidnappers were allegedly plotting their next move.
Upon arrival, the police operatives were met with resistance from the kidnappers, who opened fire. In the ensuing exchange, two kidnappers were neutralized, while four others escaped, leaving behind their operational weapons. The swift and decisive action of the police ensured the safe rescue of Mrs. Odumosu from the swampy creeks, unharmed. As a precautionary measure, she is currently undergoing medical evaluation and has been reunited with her family.
The police made a significant haul during the operation, recovering 4 AK-47 rifles, 3 locally made single-barrel rifles, and ammunition of various calibers. Additionally, they retrieved the N10,000,000 ransom that had been paid to the kidnappers, ensuring that justice was served.The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their bravery and skill in executing the successful operation.
