The former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Amukoko, Lagos State Police Command, Retired CSP Maliki Bawa Rilwanu, was honored with a colorful retirement party at the Governor’s event centre in Amukoko, Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Lagos State. During the ceremony, CSP Bawa expressed his gratitude to God for guiding him throughout his 35-year meritorious service to the nation. He emphasized the importance of serving humanity, stating, “It pays more to serve humanity.”

Before his retirement, CSP Bawa held the position of Commander, Special Enquiry Bureau, Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, for less than three months. His dedication and commitment to the Nigerian Police Force are a testament to his remarkable career.

Retd CSP Maliki Bawa’s remarkable career was celebrated in style as Honourable Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, led a delegation to bid him a fond farewell. The community had grown to love and respect Retd CSP Bawa for his exceptional policing style, which focused on building strong human relationships. His approach had a lasting impact on the area, making him a beloved figure among locals.

Chairman Okeowo praised CSP Bawa as an achieving police officer, noting that his outstanding performance and dedication to duty were qualities that would have served him well in politics. “If he were a politician, he would be retiring now, having achieved so much during his tenure,” Chairman Okeowo said, highlighting CSP Bawa’s impressive legacy in the police force.
Okeowo proudly noted Bawa’s remarkable achievement in combating crime in Ifelodun LCDA, stating that his efforts have effectively brought crime to a standstill in the area. As a result, the community has witnessed a significant transformation, with the area now boasting a 99% crime-free status. Residents can now rest easy, sleeping peacefully without fear of criminal activity. This impressive feat is a testament to CSP Bawa’s dedication to maintaining law and order during his tenure.
Chairman Okeowo reflected on CSP Maliki Bawa’s exceptional qualities, saying, “I’ve witnessed his discipline firsthand since taking office as LCDA Chairman in Ifelodun.” He however expressed his well-wishes for Bawa’s future, stating, “I wish him all the best in his future pursuits.” Okeowo also offered some sage advice, suggesting that Bawa leverage his expertise to establish a security company, given his in-depth knowledge of the field.
Moreover, the LCDA representative of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), along with police officers and friends, had high praise for CSP Maliki Bawa’s exceptional character. They highlighted his friendly and humane approach, which made him a beloved figure in the community. His humble nature and disciplined demeanor were also commended, reflecting his dedication to his work and the people he served.

A representative of Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olarenwaju Ishola, CSP Taoreed Lawal, a Chief Superintendent of Police, shared heartfelt sentiments about CSP Maliki Bawa. As a course mate and long-time colleague, CSP Lawal highlighted Bawa’s exceptional qualities, including his kind, caring, and respectful nature. He praised Bawa’s dedication to duty, noting that he treated his police work as his personal business.
CSP Lawal expressed no surprise at the large turnout of people celebrating Bawa’s retirement, given his remarkable character and service. He concluded his speech by praying for God’s blessings upon Bawa, asking that God opens more doors of opportunity for him in his post-retirement life.

Ajagba highlighted Bawa’s remarkable achievements during his tenure as DPO, noting that he worked tirelessly to bring peace to the entire community. Prior to Bawa’s arrival, crime was rampant in the area, but he successfully turned things around, earning the respect and admiration of the community.

As part of the festivities marking CSP Maliki Bawa’s retirement, he was honored with presentations of cash and various itemized gifts, symbolizing the appreciation and gratitude of his colleagues, friends, and the community he served.

The retirement ceremony of CSP Retd Maliki Bawa was a prestigious event, attended by numerous dignitaries. Notable guests included Hon. Taiwo Oyewole Adenekan, a former chairman and member of the House of Representatives, as well as APC Apex leader.
Traditional leaders were also in attendance, such as Chief Lateef Olatunde Alade, the Bale of Oridimu 1 and Chairman of the Council of Traditional Chiefs. Other prominent figures included Hon. Kafayat Muse, Chairman of Ifelodun PCRC, and business leaders like Mr. Charles Obor, CEO of Seriki Petroleum, and Mr. Kalid, CEO of City Point Hotel. Former DPO Ajegunle, CSP Constantine was present at ceremony.
The ceremony also saw the presence of Muslim and Christian clerics, who joined in celebrating CSP Bawa’s dedicated service. Overall, the event was a testament to the respect and admiration CSP Bawa has earned throughout his career.
