Police Foil Holiday Crime Spree: 23 Suspects Arrested, Weapons Recovered

Nigeria Police Force Achieves Significant Success in Anti-Crime Efforts During Christmas Celebrations

The Nigeria Police Force has made significant strides in ensuring a safe and secure environment during the Christmas celebrations. Following the Inspector-General of Police’s directive to implement anti-crime strategies, police operatives nationwide have successfully apprehended multiple groups of armed robbers, cultists, and hoodlums.

The Force Spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement said, swift response leads to arrest of hoodlums in Lagos, on December 25, 2024, when police operatives in Lagos State responded swiftly to a distress call and arrested three suspected hoodlums – Emmanuel Okoli, 20 years old; Ogunde Tejiri, 20 years old; and Emmanuel Orji, 18 years old. The police also recovered the weapons used by the hoodlums in carrying out robbery attacks on innocent fun-seekers in the area.

 

Kaduna Police Apprehend Kidnapping Suspect, in another development, police operatives in Kaduna State apprehended Sule Muhammad, a 25-year-old suspect involved in multiple kidnapping incidents. A fabricated AK-47 rifle was recovered from the suspect, who confessed to being a member of a notorious kidnapping gang that had been evading arrest since the arrest of other gang members on August 16, 2024.

 

Similar successful operations were conducted in states including Delta, Ogun, Katsina, Benue, FCT, and Imo, resulting in the arrest of several suspects. The FCT Police Command, for instance, arrested 23 suspected armed robbers and recovered 13 stolen vehicles.

The Inspector-General of Police has commended the officers involved in these operations for their vigilance and commitment to public safety. He highlighted their display of exemplary dedication in safeguarding communities, especially during the festive season.

The IGP urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. He further assures citizens that the Nigeria Police Force is fully committed to creating a safe environment for everyone during the holiday season.
