Zone 2 Officers honours ASP Bashir Lawal as he retires from the Police Force.
It was jubilation time at Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan Lagos during the weekend when Officers and men of the Command gathered to celebrate Supol Alhaji Bashir Lawal who retired after thirty five years of meritorous service to the nation.
The retired Officer currently owns the title of “Kabiyesi Laani Ekun the first of odoayan Mojodo in Epe local government area of Lagos State.. He was enlisted into the Nigerian police force in December 1st 1989, his first posting was Area C Command in 1990, he later moved to Iponri Police Division Lagos State Police Command.
At Iponri Police Station he was redeployed to the National Assembly complex at the Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos. He also worked in Aguda Division Surulere before he was transferred to Zamfara State in 1999.
In the year 2000, he returned to the Force headquarters annex Obalende Lagos and worked in the “A” department where he was in charge of Nigerian Police Force Insurance Scheme. He also worked in the B’ops Department at Police headquarters Ikeja before he was transferred to Ogun State Police Command, where he was posted to the Mowe Division along the Lagos – Ibadan express way.
At Mowe Division he fought armed robbery to standstill as he became a nightmare to criminals who usually terrorise motorist along the ever busy highway where the Redeemed camp headquarters was situated. His final redeployment was zone 2 Headquarters where he worked at the Anti -Piracy Department before he retired.
The Anti -Piracy Department was created by Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Johnson Kokumo during his tenure as Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) zone 2, onikan Lagos. In a private interview with the retired officer he urged the National Assembly to improve on the welfare of the Nigerian Police Force as the current take home salary is nothing to write home about and not enough for police men to take care of their families and immediate needs.
He also adviced all the serving police men and women to be loyal and be dedicated to their duties instead of putting money first. His words ” if they do the right thing and be fully dedicated people will appreciate them.”. He thanked God for giving him the opportunity to serve the nation successfully without any problem.
