When you do good, there is always a reward for every good deed. That was demonstrated at the send off-Party of the former (DCO 1) CSP Edward Okosun at the Police Divisional Headquarter Sango-Ota on Saturday 19th October 2024.

 

CSP Edward Okosun retired as a Chief Superintendent of Police on Oct 1, 2024
after attaining the statutory 35 years in service with the Nigeria Police Force, Sango-Otta as his final Division. CSP Edward Okosun has demonstrated high competence and good conduct to everyone around him.

As a result of his kindness, his former boss, (DPO) CSP Dahiru Saleh and other officers of Sango Ota Division organised a befitting send forth Party for him. Previously, the former DCO, CSP Edward Okosun has served in various formations of the force
before retiring as DCO at Sango-Otta Police Divisional Headquarters.

Okosun joined the Nigeria Police Force in October, 1989 as a recruit constable and rose through the ranks and retire as a Chief Superintendent Police, (CSP).

He was a Detective Officer at Ogida Division, Benin City, Edo State from 1990-1993;

Operations Officer, “B” Department, Edo State Command (1993-1994);

Admin Personnel, Office of the CP, Lagos State (1994-1996);

Detective Officer, General Investigation Department, Lagos State Command (1996-1998);

Suvelliance Officer, ‘C’ Division, Benue State Command (1998-2000)

Operations Officer, Mopol 20, Ikeja (2000-2008).

He was also at Seme Border Patrol as Patrol Officer from 2008 -2009;

Operations/Admin Officer, Border Patrol, Imeko in Ogun State (2010-2016);

DCO, Akamkpa Division, Cross River State (2016-2017);

DCO, Abigi Division, Ogun Waterside (2017-2019)

and DCO, Agbara Division, Ogun State Command (2020-2022).

The Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) Sango-Ota, CSP Dahiru Saleh in his brief remark commended the retiring Officer for his immense dedication, cooperation, hardwork and support. His words, “I dont know which words I can use to describe my retiring DCO, he served under me as a dedicated and hardworking officer, he also worked with me in Agbara and here in Sango-Ota Division.

“We have a very good working relationship for so many years which i really appreciated and so much cherished. I will miss him alot. But you just retired not tired. You are free to come to the Division to see us. The doors are open for you. I pray to God Almighty to guide, bless you and your family”.

Okosun previously worked in Agbara Division, as DCO, which attracted the attention of some important people in the society, as they honoured a friendly, proactive and dedicated senior police officer.

Also gracing the occasion were the new Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sango-Otta Area Command, ACP Sola Oladele, DPO Onipanu, CSP Alexandra Obadeyi, DPO Agbara, CSP Abiodun and other DPO’s, Security Stakeholders, comprising Sister Security Agencies, top Media Executives, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), traditional rulers, transport unions, and a host of other notable corporate bodies and individuals.

 

 

Some people came out and spoke nicely of him as an amiable, charming,
courteous, easy going, free-minded, altruistic person, unbiased intelligent officer, vast in conflict resolution, dedicated law enforcer makes him a leader per excellence.

The send forth party culminated to the presentation of Meritorious Award Of Excellence in Combating Crime (AMBASSADOR OF PEACE AND SECURITY) .

In recognition of his unwavering dedication, immense commitment to duty, relentless efforts in crime prevention, management, control and magnificent exploits in Ota and environs through intelligence and Community Policing. He has maintain peace, law and order.

  

His proactivenes and responsiveness as the Divisional Crime Officer has delivered a qualitative security approach in combating crime.

He also has demonstrated a sterling, impeccable exemplary leadership qualities, indefatigable atitude, unflagging industriousness and exceptional gallantry performance. His service to humanity was aimed at safeguarding lives and properties in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.

In addition, another seasoned Crime Reporter, Barrister Sunny Ebhofiaye, also presented an Award for his immense contributions to the Nigeria Police Force, while officers and men of the Division and the Area Command Ota presented him various fantastic items as parting gifts.

The send-off party was climaxed by presentation of awards to him by two seasoned crime reporters, Adeola Adeleke and Barrister Sunny Ebhofiaye, for his immense contributions to the Nigeria Police Force, while officers and men of the division presented him various items as parting gifts.
