.AS ACP MOHAMMED MUSA LISTS HIS ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE AREA COMMAND.

The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Abiodun Mustapha Alamutu has finally Commissioned the long awaited, edifice of the Area Command, Ota, on Saturday, 25th May. Gathered at the occasion were some Royal Fathers and dignitaries.

ACP Mohammed Musa in his welcome speech, expressed his appreciation to the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Biodun Alamutu for presence despite his busy schedules and other dignitaries who graced the commissioning of one of the best Area Command Office in Nigeria.

He gave an account of his accomplishments which include crime control strategy, police/community relations, intelligence-led community policing strategy, improved security ethics/security operatives code of conduct, public trust and to crown it all, the best befitting area command office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Nigeria.

He however stated that the crime control strategy he put on ground is yielding an overwhelming successes especially on the area of Prevention of all violent crimes as Kidnapping, Cultism, Armed Robbery, Murder and Rape. All these violent crimes have reduced drastically to slightest in Ota and environs which was in line with CP’s mission and vision on ” ZERO TOLERANCE TO CRIME “. He assured that he and his officers will continue to work assiduously to guarantee the safety and security of their area of responsibility.

According to him, he tagged the structure as “project of reality”, saying “I can say, without any exaggeration, that it is the best of its kind in Nigeria”, adding that the building now has some additional structures, such as visitor’s waiting room, standard administrative office, charge room, extended varanda, where night-duty can take cover, emergency exit door and an overhead tank that supplies water to the entire building. In addition, a solar energy system that would service the building 24/7, was also installed.

ACP Mohammed, appealed to CP Alamutu to join him to thank the Olota of Ota, HRM Oba Prof. Abdul- Kabir Adeyemi Obalanlege for his magnanimous gesture throughout the project.

More over, he appreciated the MD, Dr. Seun Obasanjo of TEMPO PAPER PULP & PACKAGING LTD that provided six units of Aluminium windows valued Eight hundred and forty-three thousand Naira (N843,000:00) and Alh. Shamsudeen Yekini Ademola who beautify the office with highest quality of silver rails, he thanked them for their contributions towards the project.

Speaking further, “On the top list of donors and the highest donor for this project is the Managing Director of Zaazu Herbal Bitters Nigeria, who visited the project at the final stage and decided to empower the office with full solar system, that will provide electricity 24/, valued over Seven Million Naira, (N7,000,000:00).

The sister security agencies that graced the event were the Navy, NSCDC, VIO, FRSC, TRACE, SO-SAFE CORPS and VGN.

 

On his part, CP Abiodun Alamutu, recollected that the three-day visit of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun in April was peaked at commissioning the new Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Police Complaint Response Unit and an event centre belonging to the police.

” Here I am again today in Sango-Otta for the commissioning of this Area Command headquarters building. The impression I had was to commission a renovated building, but what I see on ground is beyond renovation”, the CP said.

While commending ACP Mohammed for his great strides, Alamutu added, “Sincerely, I truly want to extend my appreciation to the Area Commander for his vision, commitment and passion because, by this act, he has left his footprint in the sands of time, and will remain indelible as long as this Area Command exists.

“I believe that the police is misrepresented. The mistake some of us in service make is taking the public for granted. This achievement couldn’t have been possible without a cordial relationship between the Area Command and members of the public. Without amiability this project wouldn’t have been possible. The only way to earn the trust of the public is to remain upright”, the state Police Commissioner, stated.

He, however expressed his sincere appreciation to members of the public and sister security agencies for their synergy with the police, while urging for their continued support, in order to eradicate criminality.

Alamutu enjoins the officers and men of Ota Area Command to sustain the amiability, though there might be argument sometimes, the Area Command is there to settle the disagreement. What cannot be handled at the divisional level can go to the Area Command and can go to the State Command.

 

The Seriki of Ota, High Chief Olanrewaju Balogun, ably represented the Olota of Ota, HRM Oba Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, while delivering his goodwill message stated,

“I want to apologize for our inability to be here in full force as planned. Something came up beyond our control that affected the whole traditional system. Most of our scheduled functions was cancelled but because the achievement of our Area Commander is not something we can push aside.

“I want to thank the CP, our own Egbon, Alamutu. We really appreciate you. We can say we are very lucky in Ota Area Command right from the present CP of Lagos, CP Adegoke Fayoade, when he was here to the time of Monday Agbonika, now to the time of ACP Mohammed Sani.

“When ACP Sani was coming, we said we do not want any Hausa man, we want a Yoruba. And ACP Agbonika said you will really enjoy him. We said No. He came to me and said ‘Seriki, please convince Kabiyesi; this is a very good officer they are bringing to Ota. Now everything is there for all to see. I have never seen a finest police officer in the whole of when I have been in Ota. I am not saying this because of the structure but for his professionalism and his style of community policing.

“He has opened up all his lines to us and very accessible. He works in conjunction with sister agencies, including the Navy. We have recorded almost zero crimes. I know promotion is the next expectation, but this may be the time we will have an area command headed by a DCP, because we would not allow him to go. This is a structure that will outlive you.”

Alhaji Hassan Umar, Chairman of APC Alimosho LGA, Katanguwa Central Mosque, Kataguwa Market, Jamaat Islamiyya Sunaah, in his goodwill message also said,

“Seeing is believing. We don’t need much to say because it is before us to see. Whoever has come here before and knows how this station was, can see the difference. There is cooperation among the policeman and we hope it will continue”.

Mr Chinedu Cornelius (But why), But Y electronics Ltd in a brief interview commended the Area Commander, APC Muhammed for his responsiveness and proactivenes.

He said, “There is peace in the area, the crime rate has reduced drastically, Let other Area Commanders emulate him, he is honest , friendly and humble officer also accessible he picks up his calls anytime.

Asking him how he felt when the Area Commander recognised him, he said, “Well, the more you move out the more you know people, wherever you go be friendly with people”. He said.

The event was spiced up by a recognition award of “Quintessential Ambassador of the Nigeria Police Force”, presented on behalf of the Crime Puzzle Magazine to the Area Commander, ACP Mohammed Sani Musa, by CP Alamutu.

In his speech, a prelude to the award presentation, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Crime Puzzle, Felix Mordi, revealed that previously,


the area was identified with crimes like thuggery, rituals, inter-tribal conflicts, land grabbing, armed robberies and cultism. But when ACP Mohammed assume the office at Ota Area Command as Area Commander, the area has been relative calm.

He said “But, for the past two years ACP Mohammed held sway as Area Commander, the area has been enjoying relative peace; the ease of doing business in Ota and environs has improved, adding that, “Also, when this building project was started, the thinking in many quarters, that filtered into our ears, was that ‘it was one of those enthusiastic projects that would be abandoned halfway or remain uncompleted’. ACP Mohammad has proved doubters wrong, and this is worthy of commendation”.

The Crime Puzzle Publisher described ACP Muhammad as a go getter, a finest officer and a proud ambassador of the Nigeria Police Force, for his ability to commence and afterwards, seeks support from corporate bodies to complete the edifice at the Area Command headquarters ota.

“In view of the above, we are honoured and glad to present an award of Quintessential Ambassador of the Nigeria Police to ACP Mohammed for these accomplishments”, Mordi said.
