When I came to Lagos, I was aware of such crime like cultism, traffic robbers, one chance even kidnappings, our main target is to eliminate criminality in Lagos and we are dealing with that already. Lagos is a volatile city, everyday people are moving in both law abiding citizens and unlawful immigrants, the unlawful ones are commiting crimes disturbing lawful Lagosians to go about their normal businesses.Reducing crime is most important and our major concern and we are commited to combat crime in a shortest time.

CP Adegoke added, ‘ The faceless dangerous element terrorizing the area will be exposed and apprehended. I want to assure you that our officers are applying strategy of treating members of the public with high level of respect. A policeman must be friendly, ready to listen to public Complaints, response to incidents must be prompt, to make this happen the Patrol vehicles must be in good shape, at the end of the day, the complainer must be satisfied with the service provided. You must apply a open door policy. Open your door for the public, Human Rights & Civil Society, there is no secret in Police station

‘I know you have been assisting the Police alot and you mustn’t relent, Police expenditure us very huge, it requires so much money to buy many guns & ammunition and even maintenance. We cant do it alone, your support is highly needed to mobilise resources. So, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, we are commited to safety and security in Lagos especially Mushin is our concern we wont be tired until crime rate is brought to the bearest minimum and for the good people of Mushin Area D to go about their normal businesses without the fear of being robbed or denied of their valuables.

‘We can achieve all these through collaboration with businessmen, traditional, religious rulers, CDA’s, CDC’s, other Security agencies and Armed Forces by putting resources together. I want to assure you that your support wont be taken for granted, Mushin is the 2nd largest populated Area, after Alimosho.     Engr. Ogungbe, Chairman PCRC, Area D           Command

‘The PCRC in my Division are working hand in hand, we also bought a Standby generator. No manpower, no enough patrol vans in Area D. My advice is that Nigerian Government should intervene to assist the police. Youths have been advised to stay away from cultism, even the whole problems started from secondary schools where they were initiated. Also lack of parental care can lead to cultism, theft and other vices’.

Also in a brief interview with Mr. M.A Alebiosu, grand patron of Ago Division, an exco member in area D and also an exco member of PCRC Abuja, said  ‘ I joined PCRC as far back in 1993, during time when former IGP Aliyu Atta was the IGP. Most times they consume these substances they dont know what they are doing, we appeal to political, religious leaders to enlighten on the effects of drugs, the need to be productive and shun drugs’.

ACP Bamidele Awoniyi added that, PCRC has been very supportive, government cant do it alone, we have prominent members in the society anytime need arises they render assistance without any hesitation, and we have been having cordial relationships. If you can check past records in the last two years, Area D Command comprising of 10 Divisions have been so peaceful due to change of policy, talk more instead of carrying gun and shooting people’.

He said,’  all our DPO’s are working relentlessly, sleeping in their offices, as the CP has instructed all the Area Commanders and DPO’s to sleep in their offices. That is what we do to maintain peace at the Area Command.

The PCRC attended the security meeting in a large number, all because I see myself as a member of the public, I  once experienced it when I was the DPO Ajah, I had a good relationship with the people, when they have occasion, they invite me and I will attend. I see myself as a member of the society. Even, oneday I will retire from the job, I will join them, am already practising it Is very easy for me.’
