Trinity University Yaba, Holds 1st, 2nd Convocation Ceremonies.

Founder and chairman of Doyin Group of Companies Prince Dr Samuel Adedoyin has been named chancellor of Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos. Adedoyin was decorated with the position at the university’s maiden convocation on Friday.

Some First Class honours graduates of the Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, have been offered employment opportunities as the institution marked its maiden convocation, tagged “Convoking a Galaxy of Trinity Stars” on Friday, 23rd February 2024.

In his address, the Pro Chancellor, Trinity University, Pastor Samuel Olatunji said the university was established in order to make a difference in the Nigerian education sector.

The breakdown in the 2021/2022 academic session had two students with first class in the Faculty of Basic Medical and Applied Sciences (B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science), one in Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (B.sc. Degree in Mass Communication).

 In the first class category in 2022/2023 session were five outstanding graduates who obtained certificate in B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science under the Faculty of Basic Medical and Applied Sciences.

Three first class in Microbiology, three  in Business Administration, three in Mass Communication and, three in International Relations and political science.

Speaking at the combined maiden convocation of the university, Prof. Clement Kolawole, acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution said that 31 per cent of the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 made it in the first class division. He added that 46 per cent recorded Second Class Upper and 23 per cent were in the  Second Class Lower division respectively.

The Trinity University Vice-Chancellor stated that Miss Okpala Chidera with CGPA of 4.85 emerged best graduating student in 2021/2022 set, also Miss Adewunmi Oyindamola with a CGPA of 4.88 in 2022/2023 academic session.

“These graduates and others demonstrated their ability and willingness to profit from the services, academics, social and religious to which the university exposed them,” he added.

Earlier, the Pro-Chancellor, Dr Samuel Adedoyin, said the honour to Ajimobi and Obaro was a mark of recognition of their immense contributions to the society and their fields of endeavour.

“ In essence, we are bringing them on board into our community so that together, we will join hands in nurturing the future generation to bring about the nation of our dreams.

“ And to the graduands, note that you are pioneers and trailblazers who have set the standard for excellence that will inspire generations to come. And as you step into this phase of your lives, carry the value of the Trinity with you and a relentless pursuit of knowledge,” he added.

Adewunmi Oyindamola overall best student 2022/2023 academic session in her valedictory speech noted that the training they all received during the time spent in the institution has equipped and prepared them to face the future.

Meanwhile, Odubela laurita best graduating student 2022/2023 with 4.60 CGPA in Mass Communication (Mass Comm), commended the institution for creating an enabling environment to attain the success.

“It was a wonderful experience being a student of this great institution and on my achievement as best in Mass Comm, I really burned the night candle and my parents and lecturers were there for me,” she said.

Also, Celebrating her father, Olori Sola Adedoyin-Alao wrote on Instagram, “Congratulations daddy, may we continue to learn from your wealth of experience and humility. I am proud of Samu Agbamu now Samu Igbonu, the deepest Yoruba tribe. God continues to preserve and prosper you,

“Dear Prince Adedoyin, my family and I are excited to witness your investiture as chancellor, Trinity University. I have no doubt that you will make a great impact in your new role, as you have made in everything that you have touched.

Hearty congratulations!”Adedoyin’s daughter captioned the post, “A lifetime relationship that I am extremely proud of.”

The institution also conferred honorary doctorate on the wife of ex-Oyo State governor, Florence Ajimobi; and a technology entrepreneur, John Obaro.

Mrs Ajimobi wrote on Instagram, “The Former first lady of Oyo state and Matriarch of the Ajimobi family, Dr. Mrs. Florence Ajimobi had an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Business Administration (DBA) conferred on her by the Trinity University, Yaba Lagos. The presentation was by Prince Samuel Adedoyin.”

Reacting, Mrs chinyere Okpala, mother of the best 2021/2022 academic session, Okpala Chidera Ruth expressed  her joy and excitement. She said,” Am very gratetful to God, am happy that my daughter has made me proud am not suprised because she has been very hard working, whatever you have set your mind to achieve you will get it. It’s not easy but thank God for his provision”.

The occasion was graced by Mrs Florence Ajimobi, wife of a former Oyo State governor,  Dr John Obaro, a notable technology entrepreneur, a lot of dignitaries from all works of life including Chief Okoya and wife Shade Okoya, Dr Awosika and many others.
