The leadership of the Labour Party has rejected the outcome of Wednesday’s judgment at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal after its petitions were dismissed by the Justice Haruna Tsammani-led panel.

The development is coming a few hours after the judges threw out the petitions filed by LP lawyers, which the court said was ‘clearly based on rhetoric.’
Some of the claims made by the petitioners included the nullification of the declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the election for failing to score 25 per cent in the FCT; Tinubu’s incompetence to contest the election following his forfeiture in the United States; and failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission to transmit results to INEC election results viewer among others.
Reacting in a statement issued in Abuja, National Publicity Secretary of LP, Obiora Ifoh, swore that the party will not accept the outcome of the judgment.
While urging all their supporters to remain calm, Ifoh further hinted that they would consult with their lawyers before the party could make its position known on the next step to take.
He said, “The Labour Party watched with dismay and trepidation the dismissal of petitions by the five-man panel of the Presidential Election Petition Court led by Justice Haruna Tsammani today and we reject the outcome of the judgment in its entirety because justice was not served and it did not reflect the law and the desire of the people.
“Nigerians were witnesses to the electoral robbery that took place on February 25, 2023, which was globally condemned but the Tribunal in its wisdom refused to accept the obvious. What is at stake is democracy and we will not relent until the people will prevail.
“We salute the doggedness of our team of lawyers who fearlessly exposed the wrath in our system. We can only weep for democracy in Nigeria but we refuse to give up on Nigeria. Details of the party’s position will be presented after consultation with our lawyers after the Certified True Copy of the judgement is made available to us. We urge all lovers of democracy to remain focused and hopeful because a new Nigeria is possible.”

The acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, has directed the redeployment of seven (7) Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) to various departments.
The Torch News reports that this statement was disclosed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
DIG Bala Ciroma has been redeployed to head the Department of Finance and Administration, DIG Frank Emeka Mba to the Department of Training and Development, and DIG Habu A. Sani, to head the Force Intelligence Bureau.
Adejobi said the development is following the promotion of deserving officers to the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Others are DIG Usman D. Nagogo to Department of Logistics and Supply, DIG Daniel Sokari-Pedro, to Department of Information and Communication Technology, DIG Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje, to Department of Research and Planning, and DIG Ede Ayuba Ekpeji to head the Department of Operations.
IGP Egbetokun also approved the posting of the following Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to the following Commands and Formations as indicated against their names: “AIG Oladimeji Yomi Olanrewaju has been posted as the Force Secretary, AIG Yekini Adio Ayoku, mni to head the Police Mobile Force, AIG Idris Dabban Dauda, fdc, to Zone 16 Yenagoa, AIG Oyediran Adesoye Oyeyemi, fsi, to head the Police Cooperative, and AIG Benjamin Okolo Nebeolisa, fdc, to AIG Department of ICT.
“Furthermore, the IGP charges the newly posted and redeployed senior officers to entrench professionalism in their respective Departments, Commands, and Formations while prioritizing human security and people-centric policing services.”
Shake-Up in Customs, CG Adeniyi Redeploys Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni To Tin-Can Island Port, Jaiyeoba To Apapa, Bomodi To Seme Command.

In response to the statutory retirement of some management members of Nigeria Customs, the Acting Comptroller General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, has approved key appointments and redeployment within the service to ensure operational efficiency.
Consequently, Comptrollers Florence Nanu Ogar-Modey and Queen Ogbudu have been appointed Acting Assistant Comptroller Generals Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and Zonal Coordinator Zone B, respectively.
Some of the Comptrollers redeployed to various Customs formations include Compt. Jaiyeoba Jide from Oyo/Osun Area Command to Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi from Seme to Tin-Can Island Port, Compt. Timi Bomodi from KLT to Seme, Compt. Ahmed Abe from PCA Zone ‘C’ to Kaduna Area Command and Compt. Babandede Mohammad from Lilypond Export Command to Lagos Free Trade Zone Command.
Others are Compt. Dauda Ibrahim Chana from Investigation Headquarters to Kano/Jigawa Area Command, Compt. Martina Tilleygyado from Non-Intrusive Inspection to KLT Area Command, Compt. Oloyode Adekunle from Tin-Can Island Port to Import &/Export Headquarters while Compt. Zanna Chiroma will be leaving Import & Export for PCA Zone ‘C, among many others.
