The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has reiterated his commitment to entrenching professionalism in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

This, he looks out to achieve via sustainable promotion of specialisation and fixing of trained experts to take charge of NPF’s specialised sections such as the Legal Section, Forensic Unit, the Cybercrime Unit, Public Relations Department, Gender Unit, Medical Services and so on.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday 11 June, said the IGP maintained this as “paramount to ensuring that square pegs are fitted into square holes for efficiency and effective discharge of policing duties to the public.”

Accordingly to the Nigerian Police number one Spokesman, the IGP made reference to some laudable achievements of the NPF under his administration including the excising and massive expansion of the Cybercrime Unit, the massive construction of specialist hospitals and acquisition of medical facilities for the Medical Unit, the digitalisation of the Force Legal Section and the digitalisation of personnel records under the Force Secretary office.

Other achievements under his leadership of the Force, he stated, to be the enhanced aerial and marine operations, improved Police Animal Section, digitalised Central Motor Registry, establishment of the NPF Construction company assisting in Construction and renovation of barracks and facilities, among others.

“The Inspector-General of Police has  however assured that the process, which has been institutionalized, will be continuous and deliberate to achieve a total overhaul of old systems and patterns in the Police to give way for a full digitalization in no distant time. He stressed that this would greatly improve investigations and intelligence gathering activities of the Police for a more robust and result-oriented interaction with the public,” CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said.

Zone 2 Police Arrest Fake Customs Officer Who Have Been Swindling Unsuspecting Members of The Public Millions of Naira.

A fake female customs officer, Rakiya Musa who is currently being investigated by operatives attached to Zone Two Police Command, Onikan Lagos for impersonation has revealed that she has been in the business for over 15 years.   AIG Ali Muhammad zone 2

According to Rakiya who impersonates customs officers to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, said, “I gave the sum of one Million Naira (1,000,000) to my boyfriend Akinwande Kayode from the three Million Two Hundred thousand naira (3,200,000) fraudulently obtained from my recent victims.

It was learned that the long arm of the law caught up with Rakiya Musa after two of her victims wrote a petition to the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2 Command Onikan Lagos against her.

Confirming the arrest SP Hauwa Idris Adamu, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2 Command said “On the 12th of April 2023, a petition was written by Josiah Kashim Utenwojo and Dominic Okoh Henry to the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2 Command Onikan Lagos against one Rakiya Musa who claimed to be an officer of the Nigerian Customs Service in charge of Public Auction Unit at Tin Can Port, Apapa Lagos. Rakiya lived in the Nigeria Air Force Mess Apapa for three months, thereby making her victims believe she is a Customs officer.

Explaining further, Idris Adamu said, “Upon receiving the petition, the AIG Ari Mohammed Ali immediately detailed some crack Detectives attached to the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department to investigate who immediately swung into action.”

“After a detailed investigation, it was revealed that the victims were introduced to Rakiya by Akinwande Kayode (a retired Naval officer) and that she should help them procure Auction Vehicles from the Nigerian Customs Service.”

“Based on the foregoing, the sum of Three Million two hundred thousand naira (3,200,000) was transferred to Rakiya’s UBA personal account. Immediately the fund was received, she became incommunicado, and it was then dawn upon them that they had been swindled, all efforts made to reach her proved abortive.”

However, after a painstaking investigation, she was arrested at Abuja where a Customs ID card and Customs Clearing Agent ID were recovered from her and she was brought to Lagos for proper investigation.

During the investigation, she confessed to have been impersonating a Customs Officer to defraud unsuspecting members of the public and that she has been in the business for over 15 years.
Some of the items recovered from the suspect are Nigerian Customs Service I.D Card and Uniform.
“Investigation is still in progress and the suspect will soon be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” Idris Adamu added

advised the general public to be wary of the antics of this fraudster who has been swindling unsuspecting members of the public of their money.

IGP orders the posting of Senior Police Officers.

The Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, has ordered the posting of CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie to Abia State Police Command as the new Commissioner of Police in charge of the State and CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala to the Force Headquarters as the Commissioner of Police, Special Protection Unit.

CP Kenechukwu holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Psychology from Anambra State University. He was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force in 1992, and has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative capacities in Ogun, Imo, FCT, Plateau, and Kaduna State Commands. Buhari Did Not Give Benefit To Abiola Family Despite GCFR Recognition – Jamiu Abiola.

One of the children of Late MKO Abiola, Jamiu has revealed how ex-president Muhammadu failed to give the family benefits despite recognising their father as Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR). Buhari recognised Abiola as GCFR in 2018 and moved Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12. The decision was taken by Buhari after recognising that Abiola won the June 12, 1993 presidential election which was annulled by the military.

Jamiu in an interview with Vanguard almost 30 years after the death of his father noted that no benefit followed Tinubu’s declaration.
Speaking on how his family felt about the declaration of their father as GCFR he said, “Once again, it is a big family. I doubt that there is a standard opinion. I was thrilled that the Buhari administration took that step. I am even sure that previous Presidents now regret not doing the same since it is the right thing to do.

“That was why I joined President Buhari’s ‘Next Level’ second-term campaign effort. After our inauguration, I did all I could to ensure his victory. The recognition of both my father and mother was something for which I struggled. I had written books about their struggles, spending millions of naira and giving away copies for free

I had given all members of the Lagos State Assembly copies for free as far back as 2016. I even sent free copies to all exco members of the Ambode administration and countless copies to former President Buhari and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, monarchs, ministers, members of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

This was why our dear matriarch, Alhaja Adebisi Abiola, who has been taking care of my father’s large family as much as she can, following the death of my mother, was exposed to an armed robbery attack in my father’s house. This is something that should never have happened in the house of a former President to his senior wife or any member of his family.”

The Ninth Senate, on Saturday, held its last sitting and its valedictory session in the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly.

The ninth Senate is scheduled to wind up activities on Sunday, June 11, 2023, having been inaugurated on June 12, 2019.

The valedictory session was earlier fixed for Thursday but was postponed till Saturday because of a meeting President Bola Tinubu had with the National Assembly members-elect.

Present at the ceremony, which started at about 11 a.m., included Vice President Kashim Shettima and the wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu, who are both members of the Ninth Senate.

Others at the event included the Kano State Governor, Uba Sani, and the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Dr Akon Eyakenyi, amongst others.

I‘If Emefiele Starts To Mention Names, Nigeria Will Catch Fire’ – Sources Give Details Of Arrest.

Sources have disclosed that the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, will not be prosecuted following his arrest by the Department of State Service (DSS).
This comes amidst the controversies trailing the arrest, detention, and whereabouts of Emefiele after his suspension on Friday evening.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele over an ongoing investigation of his office and was subsequently arrested by the DSS.
The DSS in a tweet on Saturday denied detaining him, which has raised eyebrows about his whereabouts.

However, security and government sources in an interview with The Whistler said the CBN governor was arrested at 2 am on Saturday from his residence contrary to earlier reports that he was arrested on Friday.

‘You Can’t Even Look At Me If We Meet’, Kwankwaso Replies Ganduje.

The former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, said his successor, Abdullahi Ganduje, cannot even look at his face if they encountered each other at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Kwankwaso, who is the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), was reacting to a statement by Ganduje that he would have slapped him if they met at the State House.

In an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Saturday morning, Kwankwaso said Ganduje was confused to have said that because he is one of his political boys.
Speaking further, the NNPP chieftain said he met with President Bola Tinubu for about two hours over the land deals and other infractions of the Ganduje administration in the state.

 

10th National Assembly: South West PDP Asks For Minority Leader.

Elected members of the 10th House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),

South-West zone, are pushing for the position of Minority Leader.
The South-West PDP caucus decided to ask the party’s national leadership to help them get the position during a meeting held on Friday in Abuja over the partition of leadership positions in the minority caucus.

Reports claimed that the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, and the governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, who are the two PDP governors from South-West and the 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, consented to a letter written to the national leadership of the party asking for the minority leadership position to be zoned to the South-West.

Others who reportedly consented to the letter reportedly include the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed.
The letter has the signature of all the 15 PDP members-elect from Oyo, Osun, and Ondo states and was addressed to the PDP’s acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Ililya Damagum.

Setback For Peter Obi As Court Rejects Request To Interrog9ate INEC.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) sitting in Abuja has rejected an application filed by the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, seeking permission to interrogate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the technology it deployed for the conduct of the February 25th general elections.
This news platform reports that Peter Obi had, in the application, prayed the tribunal to compel INEC to answer 12 key questions he listed on an interrogatory he filed on May 22.

The former Anambra State governor wants INEC to, among other things, tell the court the date it conducted the functionality test on the purported improved technological system it deployed for the elections, as well as the names and details of those that conducted the test.
He equally urged the court to compel INEC to supply its answers to some questions

Tinubu To Move To Aso Rock Residence Next Week.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to move into his official residence in the Presidential Villa, Abuja this weekend or next week, twelve days after his assumption of office.

Almost two weeks after he took the oath of office, the President has not moved into the Aso Rock official residence following the maintenance work going on.

Recall that the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari vacated the main residence for the Glass House about three weeks before the inauguration of his successor on May 29.

The official residence was being coated with white paint, while some of its sections were being cleaned and fumigated.
However, the renovation, which largely entailed finishing, fittings, and the change of some security apparatuses, did not include the provision of new sets of furniture.

Tinubu Govt Ban Binance Operation In Nigeria.

The President Bola Tinubu-led administration has slammed a ban on the operations of Binance Nigeria Limited.
The ban was disclosed in a circular by the Securities and Exchange Commission (the Commission).

The Commission, in the circular sighted by Naija News, stated that Binance Nigeria Limited is neither registered nor regulated, and its operations in Nigeria are, therefore illegal.
