The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday at the Police College, Ikeja pulled out 15 senior officers, including Deputy Inspector-General of Police SouthWest Zone, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, after 35 years in service.

The Torch News gathered that the retired senior officers and IGP Usman Baba were class of 1988 of the Nigerian Police Academy POLAC Wudil in Kano State who enlisted for Course 15 and graduated as the first batch.

The POLAC pioneers were among some 844 Nigerian police officers who have served for 35 years and retired from the force on Wednesday.

DIG Bode Olayinka Adeleke represented IGP Baba at the pull-out ceremony said the inspector-general of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, applauded and celebrated the Police retiree’s, for Meritorious Services, also commended their efforts and contributions to the Nigerian Police Force and Nigeria.

    He stated: “It is worthy of note to state that the course has produced the 21st indigenous Inspector-General of Police, DIGs, AIGs, and several Commissioners of Police with great virtues.

“The force will greatly miss their wealth of experience and exemplary leadership qualities which is required in combating the nation’s security challenges.”

DIG Johnson Kokumo, who spoke on behalf of the retired officers at the pull- Out parade, thanked God for keeping them throughout the 35 years of service.

He also said, “198 of us commenced the police training on March 15, 1988 but 178 completed the training. Today, we are 15 being pulled out of service.“Many of them had retired before now, while many were called to glory long before they reached retirement age.”

DIG Kokumo, however praised their spouses, family members and serving police officers for their support.

 The retired officers included DIG Babatunde Kokumo, AIG Ngozi Vivian Onadeko, the first female Police Commissioner and AIG Olatunji Akinbola, who retired as the AIG, Special Protection Unit, Abuja.

Other Course 15 retired officers included AIG Isaac Akinmoyede, AIG Asafa Adekunle, who retired as AIG Zone 8 Lokoja, AIG Andrew Amengheme, AIG Amaechi Elumelu, AIG Eboka Friday, AIG Adesina Soyemi, AIG Edward Egbuka, AIG Olawale Olokode, AIG Abutu Yaro, CP Adetokunbo Owolabi, and CP Selem Amachree.
