Contrary to the expectations of the supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, that the Labour Party will secure some state’s governorship seat in the 2023 gubernatorial election, the Labour Party has failed to secure a single state as the parties leading so far are the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC).
As of Tuesday, the 21st of March, 2023, the results of 28 states out of the 24 states where governorship elections were held have been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In the results that have been declared so far by the electoral body, the PDP and the APC have dominated the wins, securing 8 and 15 wins respectively. The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) only won in one state.

However, the Labour Party supporters are still hopeful about some states where the election results were declared inconclusive: Kebbi, Adamawa. Also, the states where the collation of results was suspended: Abia, Enugu.

According to the results that have been declared by the INEC so far, the 15 states won by the All Progressive Congress (APC) are
Ebonyi, Ogun, Benue, Sokoto, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, Lagos, Kwara, Nasarawa, Cross River, Niger, Yobe, Kaduna and Borno.

The 8 states secured by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) include Taraba, Oyo, Delta, Plateau, Zamfara, Bauchi, Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) only won in Kano State.

Surprisingly, the Labour Party is yet to win any of the 28 states where the governorship election was conducted on the 18th of March, 2023.
