1. FG PROCURES 37 FIGHTER JETS, ATTACK HELICOPTERS, SAYS 50 FIGHTER AIRCRAFT READY FOR DEPLOYMENT.
– The federal government has so far procured 37 fighter jets and attack helicopters from United States and Italy, in a renewed bid to boost the fighting capacity of the air component of the military establishment. Beyond the 12 A-29 Super Tucano fighter planes earlier procured from the United States last year, the State Department had in April, also approved the sale of 14 attack helicopters to replenish the arsenal of the Nigerian Air Force.

This comes as military authorities said at the weekend that no Nigerian territory was under the control of terror group, Boko Haram or any other group for that matter.

2. BREAKING: 23 REMAINING CAPTIVES OF KADUNA TRAIN TERRORIST ATTACK REGAIN FREEDOM.
– The remaining 23 victims of the Kaduna train terrorists attack, held in captivity have regained Freedom. This was disclosed by the Secretary of the Chief of Defence Staff Action Committee, Usman Yusuf. Yusuf said that the hostages were released at about 4pm on Wednesday, 5 October, 2022. He said that the committee secured and took the custody of the victims who were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists during an attack on a passenger train in Kaduna on March 28, 2022.

3. PRESIDENT BUHARI EXTOLS MILITARY, OTHER SECURITY AGENCIES OVER RELEASE OF 23 TRAIN CAPTIVES

– President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed happiness and satisfaction, and that of the entire nation with the military as well as other security agencies on safe release of the remaining 23 kidnapped train passengers held in captivity by Boko Haram terrorists.

In a reaction to the news of the safe release of the hostages in line with his earlier directives, President Buhari said the nation owed the military and all other security and intelligence agencies a debt of gratitude for the successful conduct of the operation leading to the release of the hostages, saying that these agencies had shown outstanding capabilities over this period that the whole world will not fail to take note of.

4. GUARDS BRIGADE FLAGS-OFF JOINT OPERATION TO BOOST SECURITY IN FCT, OTHER AREAS… AS COMMANDER TASKS TROOPS TO STRICTLY OBSERVE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT.
– To sustain security and peace in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its environs in the ember months, the Guards Brigade on Tuesday flagged off its annual joint operation. Among the security agencies represented at the Forward Operation Base (FOB), Kwali, included Army, Air Force, Navy, Police, DSS, NDLEA, Civil Defence, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and Vigilantes.

5. BUHARI: NIGERIANS OWE OUR MILITARY DEBT OF GRATITUDE AS REMAINING 23 TRAIN  VICTIMS ARE FREED.
– President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, said the entire nation owed the military and other sister security agencies a debt of gratitude for walking the talk, as he basked in the euphoria of the safe release of the remaining 23 kidnapped Abuja-Kaduna train passengers held in captivity by Boko Haram terrorists since March 28. In a release by his spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari said the agencies had shown outstanding capabilities over the period that the whole world would not fail to take note of. He urged them to sustain the momentum.

6. OFFICERS WIVES LAUNCH FIRST TRAUMA CENTRE, TO BOOST TROOPS’ MENTAL FITNESS.
– Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), has laid the foundation for a world class Post-Trauma Stress Disorder (PTSD) centre in Abuja, to care for military and police personnel with mental health challenges. The first lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, who spoke at the centre’s ground-breaking ceremony, described it as ‘first of its kind’ and pledged to prevail on the Federal Government to fund the initiative. She applauded the wife of the chief of Defence Staff for conceptualising such an initiative, pledging to ensure its completion before the end of her husband’s tenure.

7. BREAKING; SEVEN POLICE OFFICERS, DISMISSED AS POLICE COMMISSION DEMOTES OTHERS.
– No fewer than seven senior police officers have been dismissed by the Police Service Commission (PSC) for gross misconduct. The Commission also approved the reduction in rank of ten other officers. The decisions were taken on Tuesday during the continuation of the 15th plenary meeting of the Commission. According to the Daily Trust, the meeting is expected to end on Thursday, October 6th, 2022. The meeting, presided over by its acting chairman, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, considered all the Pending Disciplinary Matters (PDM) before the Commission.

8. SIXTY-EIGHT OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE NIGERIAN ARMY ARE TO BE COURT-MARTIALED IN SOKOTO FOR DIFFERENT OFFENCES.
– Inaugurating the 12-member General Court Martial on Wednesday, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Sokoto, Major General Uwem Bassey, said the military personnel committed the alleged offences during their participation in the ongoing operation “Hadarin Daji” meant to dislodge bandits in Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi and Katsina states. He, however, tasked members of the Court to respect the principle of fair hearing. “The Court must ensure that truth prevailed by evaluating all pieces of evidence on their merits.

9. N3.92TRN FUEL SUBSIDY HIGHER THAN HEALTH, EDUCATION, DEFENCE BUDGETS.
– The N3.92tn spent as subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, from January 2020 to June 2022 is higher than the cumulative individual federal budgets for health, education and defence during the 30-month period. Findings show that over the last 30 months, Nigeria has spent more on fuel subsidy than on either the health, defence or education ministries. An analysis of petrol subsidy expenditure and ministerial budgets from January 2020 to the first half of 2022 indicated that while the Federal Government spent N3.92tn to subsidise PMS during the period, its budgets for education, health and defence during the same period were N2.28tn, N1.68tn and N3.06tn respectively.

10. CONVOY OF SECURITY VEHICLES CARRYING ARMS, AND AMMUNITION INTERCEPTED – GOVERNOR.

– Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has disclosed that the State chapter of Ebubeagu, the South-East Security outfit, has arrested a gang trying to smuggle arms into the state. According to him, the gang, suspected to be political thugs, disguised as security personnel with vehicles fitted with security sirens. He said they were intercepted at 1am and later handed over to the police. The Governor did not say when the incident happened but warned politicians to carry out their campaigns for the 2023 elections in a peaceful manner.

11. 2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS: DON’T ENGAGE IN POLITICS GOC 2 DIVISION CAUTIONS SOLDIERS OF 4 BRIGADE NIGERIAN ARMY.

– The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Aminu Shehu Chinade, has cautioned Officers and men of 4 Brigade not to engage in partisan politics. He made the call when he visited the Brigade Headquarters while on a familiarisation tour of the formation on 4 October 2022. Speaking further, the GOC noted that his visit was to familiarise himself with the formation and get first-hand information on its activities and units under the Brigade. He also said it was to acquaint himself with the officers and soldiers under the Division as he recently took over command.

12. GOVERNORS ARMING HOODLUMS WITH AK-47 RIFFLES – FORMER GOVERNOR ALLEGES.
Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has blamed state governors for past electoral violence recorded in the country. The former APC chair, who spoke at a citizens engagement programme hosted by YIAGA Africa and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Tuesday, said the state governors fueled the past electoral violence by arming their political thugs with AK-47s during electioneering period.

13. IGP, NSA ASKED TO STEP IN AS POLICE ARMOURER IS ALLEGEDLY FINGERED IN COMMUNAL WAR.
– The National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. General Babagana Monguno and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba have been urged to take over the investigation of an armourer of Ebonyi State Police Command, Insp. Chika Elom, an ex-soldier, Dr James Agena and others in the communal war. A group, the Ebonyi First Vanguard, made the call in a statement signed by its Director-Genera, Monday Eze on Monday.

14. EL-ZAKZAKY: IM ASKS COURT TO COMMIT IGP, NATIONAL HOSPITAL CMD TO PRISON OVER CONTEMPT OF COURT.
– The Islamic Movement said it has applied for an order for committal of Inspector General of Police IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, to prison for his alleged refusal to obey an Abuja Federal High Court (FHC) order, directing the release of the corpses of Free-Zakzaky protesters. The Movement in a statement issued Monday alleged that the departed members were killed by the men of the Nigerian police on 22nd July 2019 at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja.

15. AMOTEKUN, POLICE RESCUE HUSBAND AND WIFE KIDNAPPED IN ONDO.

– The representative of Akoko South-West 1 constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Gbenga Omole, has commended security personnel and community leaders for the quick rescue of two of his constituents abducted on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Japhet Balogun were abducted on their way to the farm in Igbegun, Supare, Akoko South-West Local Government Area. Omole stated on Monday in Akure that the quick response of the South West security outfit, Amotekun Corps, and the police in the rescue operation was commendable.

16. NDLEA ARRESTS 121 SUSPECTS, SEALS 13 PROPERTIES IN KADUNA.
– Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kaduna State Command, have arrested 121 suspected drug traffickers and sealed 13 properties belonging to them. The NDLEA Commander,  Umar Adoro, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Kaduna that the operation was conducted in September. Adoro said 27 notorious drug joints were dismantled across the state.

17. POLICE DISCOVER DECOMPOSED BODIES OF TWO LADIES IN KWARA CMD’S OFFICE.
– The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the public of the result of an investigation ordered by CP Paul Odama psc (+) the newly posted Commissioner of Police Kwara State. On assumption of office, as commissioner of police Kwara State, while going through some petitions written by some citizens, a particular case struck the CP regarding a reported case of one missing lady by name Nofisat Halidu ‘F’ in Kaiama, Kaiama Local government area of Kwara State, on 21/11/2021. The CP immediately ordered the setting up of a high powered investigation team led by the deputy Commissioner of Police in the State CID, to unravel the mistry surrounding the kidnap case and other unresolved cases before his assumption of Office.

18. NSCDC ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS OVER ADULTERATED PETROLEUM PRODUCT IN ANAMBRA.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspects conveying 50, 000 litres of suspected adulterated Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) in Anambra. The accused were identified as: Samuel Ifeanyichukwu Oduche, 39, from Ndiagu Amechi Awkunanaw and Emeka Agu, 35, from Oduma, Aninri, all in Enugu State. A statement issued Monday by Public Relations Officer (PRO), NSCDC Anambra Command, Edwin Okadigbo, said the duo were apprehended by men of the Anti-Vandalism Squad of the Corps on September 24, in Awka.

19. FINALLY, ABDUCTED BIRNIN GWARI POLICE DPO TO BE RELEASED AFTER 3 MONTHS IN CAPTIVITY.
– After 23 Train hostages were released on Wednesday, the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) of Birnin Gwari Division, CSP Sani Mohammed Gyadi-Gyadi is about to be released. An intelligence source told PRNigeria that all efforts towards securing the freedom of the officer have been completed. “While I won’t like to prempt the ongoing processes, any moment from now the police officer will be freed from the captivity,”.

20. FG TOLD TO STOP APPOINTING RETIRED IGP AS CHAIRMAN POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION.
– The federal government have been cautioned by the Civil Society Organization’s, CSOs to stop appointing retired Inspector General of Police as chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC, According to CSOs, such practice, “is not in tandem with the demands of independence, impartiality, effectiveness as well as the transparency and accountability required of a civilian oversight body.

21. IGP BABA TO COMMISSION MODERN POLICE STATIONS, BARRACKS, OTHER PROJECTS IN 6 STATES.
Boosting the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force and fighting crimes, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, is set to commission over 198 projects including more than 120 modern police stations, barracks and other vital police buildings around the country.

The projects is said to be in line with his administration’s policing agenda set out upon his appointment as the 21st indigenous Inspector General of Police.
