The Female Correctional Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos, Celebrates Christmas Party on Thursday, 17th of March, 2021.

DCP Lizzie Ekpendu, a senior officer in charge of Female Correctional facility Kirikiri explained that the Christmas party for the female inmates could not hold in December due to the fasting and prayers, the inmates always observed at the beginning of the year.

Pastor Oscar Onu of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of Zion, Barracks, declared the Christmas party open with a powerful prayer. One of the inmates anchored the program.

The inmates who reenacted the Christmas season with red caps, also used the occasion to appreciate their lovely and wonderful mother, DCP Lizzie Ekpendu fondly called ‘mummy’ for being such a caring and unique mother to them all ,and also, to celebrate her birthday which was in January and cheered her up with joy and happiness with a birthday dance as well as gift items.

DCP Ekpendu also used the occasion to felicitate all those who participated in the beauty pageant which took place at the facility about a fortnight ago, and presented consolation prizes to them for their courage and participation.

Aside that, She appreciated some of her staff for being diligent and dedicated to their duties. The recipients include; Mrs Favor Ndukwe, the face of female prison, SP Victoria, the queen of female prisons, mother spiritual, Oluchi, Divine mother, Mrs Ikpo and the princess of the female prisons were decorated accordingly. Altogether, about six staff members were decorated as she advised them to value themselves.

The female choir delivered renditions titled, “My Destiny” by Banky W and “I Look to You” which they dedicated to “Mummy Lizzie”.

Along the same line , the “Outstretched Hand of God,” a non-governmental organisation presented two standing fans to the inmates, also presented an award plaque to the facility and another one to DCP Ekpendu for taking proper care of the facility and the inmates.

Making the presentation, leader of the group, Pastor Sam Osague commended Mrs Ekpendu for the good works she is doing at the facility.

Similarly, an ex-inmate of the facility, Blessing Agha was empowered with a deep freezer by the Christ Embassy, zone 6, Alakija.

Making the presentation on behalf of the church, Sandra Maduechesi encouraged the recipient to utilize the equipment to boost her business, promising that the church would do more to empower her.

Responding, the recipient expressed gratitude to the Christ Embassy church, Alakija for the empowerment and promised to put it into good use.

Recounting her experience while in the facility, Miss Agha said passing through the facility under Mrs Ekpendu has equipped her for the journey ahead and has also made her a better person.

” She taught us to pray and to love Jesus and love others. She always encouraged us to realise that coming to this facility is not the end of life, that one can still make it in life as a changed person, “she stated.

In addition, the publisher of Citizens Focus News, Comrade Fidelis Ogar presented an award to DCP Ekpendu for her excellent performance at the facility which she dedicated to the staff and inmates.

Santa Claus popularly called “Father Christmas” was on hand to distribute various gifts to the inmates. And the Christmas party ended joyfully.
