Remi Tinubu rebukes Sen.Smart Adeyemi over insecurity remarks.
Senator Remi Tinubu (Lagos Central) on Tuesday interrupted her colleague Senator Smart Adeyemi (Kogi West) at the Senate while he was commenting on Nigeria’s security challenges.
Insecurity has worsened in recent times in Nigeria, with police stations being attacked in the south-east and Boko Haram taking surrouding Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
Banditry and kidnapping have also witnessed a surge in nearly every region in the country.
Deliberating on a motion of security situation in Nigeria, Adeyemi, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress said the country was facing the worst instability since the civil war.
According to him, “This is the worst instability we are facing. In fact this is worse than the civil war,”.
But Tinubu interrupted him, asking: “Are you in PDP (Peoples Democratic Party)? Are you a wolf in sheep’s clothing?”
Adeyemi, however, ignored her and continued: “We cannot pretend that we are capable of handling the situation in our hands. America, as powerful as they are, when the pandemic came, it came to a point China came to their rescue.
“We shouldn’t pretend that we need foreign support now. Billions of naira has been voted for security services and nothing is coming out of it.
“I’m a party man and I’m supporting APC but it has gotten to a point that as supporters we cannot keep quiet.”
Remi Tinubu’s husband is considering a presidential bid in 2023.
